These individuals insure high physical and educational standards for the Poplar Bluff school system. As students, we know that under the leadership of these people we shall secure everything necessary in attaining an education. 14 Superintendent FRED MORROW We sincerely believe that the 1967-68 school year has been one of the very best in the history of the Poplar Bluff School System. The citizens of this community have taxed themselves and built a very modern high school and the administra- tion has developed a very comprehensive curriculum. Under construction at the present time is a beautiful voca- tional school equipped to provide boys and girls with the latest teaching methods in their chosen vocational field. These things have been done by the citizens of the Poplar Bluff School District to implement a sincere belief that each youngster in our school system be educated in a manner which will meet his needs. 15 ) jrjtAAfrS Today, everyone seems well informed about their freedoms, privileges, and rights. We should be thankful that we live in a country where we have the op- portunity to enjoy so many freedoms. There is much less concern about the obligations, duties, and other respon- sibilities that are so essential if these priv- ileges, freedoms, and rights are to be maintained. I would hope that through your high school education you would not only be- come aware of the opportunities and freedoms but also the necessity for people to assume responsibilities if we are to con- tinue to live in a free society. This book will bring back many memories—some good, some bad, some funny, some sad. Many things have happened and in this book, we hope we have caught a glimpse of them. In the years to come as you sit down and look at these pages, remember all the golden memories, great times and most of all the wonderful friends, teachers, and administrators who guided you at PBHS. Never think of yourself as a student, but as a part of Poplar Bluff High School. If the pages of this book achieve this, our purpose of compiling it together will be accomplished. It is our wish to walk again the paths of achievement, fun, and skill. We set them all before you . .. 34 7 [c 33 Come Walk With Us! 35 QUEEN Marsha McGowan Honorable Mention Queen Pat Mathias 37 Bluff HONORS: LaDona Whitaker; Gail West, editor; Janett Mabrey CLASSES: Pat Mathias, editor; Ron Kuker; Nancy McMurray; Connie Chadwick We would first like to express our grati- tude to Mr. Smith for his great amount of patience and imagination that has helped in producing this edition of the Bluff.
