School 'Bomd Every worthwhile institution neces- sitates having organizers who are will- ing to give freely of their time and energy. Such are the members of our school board. These individuals insure high physical and educational stand- ards for the Poplar Bluff School System. As students, we know that under the leadership of these people we shall secure everything necessary in attaining an education. Thadis R. Seifert, Vice-Pres. Dr. Fred J. Biggs, President J. B. Jeffress Harold Lacy Ray Penney, Sec. Earl Parkin 14

The Missouri State Teachers Associa- tion in its 1964 Convention in Kansas City adopted the following resolution: Democracy is dependent upon an educa- ted citizenry; that the public schools con- tribute significantly to national unity, common purpose, and equality of oppor- tunity among our people and that educa- tion is the greatest constructive force at the disposal of democratic people for the solution of their problems. This statement has always been true and will continue to be more so as the com- plex society in which we live becomes more complex. The educational progress that we have made in the Poplar Bluff Schools in the last few years has been significant but we must not rest and be satisfied. We must continue the progress of our schools, both in physical plant and academic of- ferings, to meet the needs of the future boys and girls of this community. Superintendent of Schools I am sure that all the students of Senior High have given much thought to what the future might hold for them. I challenge you to think through this thought that James Allen has left with us. Whatever your present environment may be. you will fall, remain, or rise with your thoughts, your visions, your ideals. You will become as small as your controlling desire, as great as your dominant aspiration 15 Assistant Superintendent
