GEORGE R. LOUGHEAD TJotslnr PribHr Yltocls Geo. R. Loughe.id. Superintendent High School Butiding. West Lester Street POPLAR BLUFF. MISSOURI To The Bluff Staff and to the Pupils of Poplar Bluff Senior High School. May I express appreciation for a school activity well done. Your Yearbook of 1958 is a remembrance of your school which you will value for a long time. In a way it is a dedica- tion of a wonderfully usable new high school building. No doubt you have enjoyed your Yearbook and your new building very much. Their values, however great, should not be confused with the true fundamentals of your education. If you are to be of real use in helping our American free- dom you must have the ability and the willing- ness to think . Josiah Royce. a great American philosopher and teacher once wrote. Thinking is like loving and dying. Each of us must do it for himself. No matter how good is your build- ing, your activities, your education; if you cannot or will not think and form opinions on the problems that face yourtime. then your life will not help preserve a free America. George R. Loughead, Superintendent Secretary to Superintendent Assistant Secretary to Superintendent
