The symbol of the chapter is the flarring torch and the colors are gold and white. There are four require- ments for membership in the National Honor Society. One must be superior in scholarship, demonstrate qualities of leadership, take part in worthy services and have strength of cha r a cte r . f--L-. --, Key Club The Key Club, one of Poplar Bluff ' HighSchoo1's newest organizations, was founded in 1949. The rrrrrbers are reg- istered with the International Council and their sponsor's the local Kiwanis Club. Those eligible for membership must rank in the upper one -fourth of their clbss. The club meets every Wednesday and enjoys guest speakers who are out- standing business or professional men. One ci the most enjoyable events of the year is their annual trip to St. Louis for the opening garre d the baseball season. In the spring a banquet is held at which time they install the next year's offi- cers. The band appeared at basketball and football games and marched in various public parades. He was co-captain of the team this year along with being first string half- back on the All State Team and the Big Eight Team, his second year on the Big Eight Team. His 168 points led the conference and it was his second year to lead it in scoring. Charles Rainwater is also a three year letterman. He took first string fullback on the Big Eight Team and got Honorable Mention on the A11 State Team. Jack Forbes is a three year letterman, He was co-captain on the team and was voted the most valuable lineman in the Big Eight. Jack took second string lineman on the Big Eight Team and Honorable Mention on the All State Team.
