Total devotion to one's occupation is a true rarity today. Few individuals are capable of devoting all their time and energies to their professions; still fewer of these are teachers. We at Pope John are fortunate enough to be acquainted with such an individual. She is one who is not only a superior instructor inside the classroom but outside of it as well. She has continually played important roles in the sponsoring and administering of extracurricular activities for the students of Pope John: proms, semi-formals, class trips, and especially the yearbook, which would not be possible without her total dedication. We the 1983 graduating class of Pope John XXIII High School have thereby chosen to dedicate this yearbook to Nancy Whalen as a token of our appreciation for all her endeavors, in the hope that she will continue to work for the benefit of the present and future students at our school for many years to come.
