Scientific Interests Arouse Many Students Mrs. E. A. Sneed instructs students with a problem involving the properties of matter, General Science, Biology, and Physics are presented to the students as a choice in the search for revealing material on this fascinating world. Study of one-cell animals different kinds of rocks, types of radios, the ro- tation of wheels, and much more advanced methods of science are the problems studied by the P. H. S. scientists, Mathematics Challenges Students to Develop Logical Conclusions General math, Algebra I, II, Geom- etry, Advanced Math, and Trig are among the courses found in many stu- dents daily schedules. Although only two of these are required for graduation many students have a credit in each of the subjects, This year courses in Modern Al- gebra and Geometry were taught for the first time, to Complicated Problems Mr. John McMillan explains the steps in a trig problem to Jack Page, Tom Rackley, and Neal Roy. 49

Social Studies Reveal Key to Problems in the Past, Present, and Future Mr. Wayne Jackson discusses some of the problems of Communists and their world with several Senior Sociology students. Mr, Jimmy Wise helps students with the problems in Civics and Mississippi History. Discussions are often held on the first settlers of Mississippi and the difficulties which they faced. Learning about the process of government in this state is also done in the study of civics.
