Upon entering the gym, each couple, walk- ing through a flower covered trellis entered a Parisian garden scene. A program, which had a replica of the gym scene on its cover, was given to each couple. Pastel covered tables and chairs were set in an inside nook along each wall, while a white trellis, covered with flowers, made an entrance into each nook. A distant scene of mountains and a water- fall, which emptied into a real pool of water, was seen in the background at the south end of the gym. From the refreshment stand, which resem- bled a large banquet table with two huge cham- pagne glasses on each end, were served cookies and punch. The stage represented the terrace of a Paris mansion overlooking the garden. Velma Nash, chairman of the Prom and Mr. Vose, Junior class adviser, and all committee members were responsible for making the 1951 Prom a success. Finished at last! A 78 yard run by Dick Williamson early in the game featured the victory. Revenge for a drubbing by Trinity last year was achieved when the Indians walloped the Saints 25-I4 for their first Corn Belt victory. The line plunging of Dave Armbruster featured the victory as he notched three touchdowns. After trailing I4-I2 at half time, an im- proved Pontiac eleven came back the second half to down Fairbury 33-I4. lt was the Indians' third straight victory. An 85 yard touchdown return of the opening kickoff by Dick William- son featured the game. Against a highly keyed Morris team, the Indians hit a season low. Fumbles, intercepted passes, and mental lapses on pass defense com- bined to stalemate the locals into a I3-I3 tie. Only a brilliant job by Captain Eli Edinger in the final minutes of play saved a tie for the Indians. Punting from his own end zone, the pass from center was over his head, but Edinger grabbed the ball and carried half the Morris team out to the four yard line. MIDSEASON IMPROVEMENTS Dick WiIliamson's four touchdowns paced Pontiac to a 28-O victory over Normal. Keen line play, led by Captain Eli Edinger, was also an outstanding feature, This was the Indians' second Corn Belt victory of the season. Pontiac topped their homecoming activi- ties by a 48-20 victory over U.-High. This was the first beating that the Indians have handed the Pioneers since I9-45. The brilliant running of Ronnie Lardinois was the outstanding feature of the game. Spoiling Dwight's homecoming by defeat- ing the Trojans 26-0 on October 26, the Indians added another victory to their undefeated list. A 35 yard run with a fumble for a touchdown by tackle Dick Harder featured the game. For the first time this season Pontiac's running game was stopped cold by a hard charg- ing Monmouth line. The Indians then reverted to the air, with Ronnie Lardinois tossing two touchdown passes to Dick Williamson. These two aerials netted the Indians a I4-6 victory over the Zippers and their seventh straight win of the season. SEASON FI NALE-GRAND CHAMPIONS Pontiac closed the l95I season by drub- bing Clinton 43-O. This victory clinched the Corn Belt Conference title for the Indians and also gave them the first undefeated season since l945. 'Ist Row, L. to R.: Bromley, Capt. Edinger, Carroll, J. I have been telling her about the fun we are going to have as soon as school opens. Sevt- 8- Today I greeted the new seniors who will take over the school this year, but they haven't changed a bit they're just as much fun as ever. I showed Gertrude some of the gangs- as the ones pictured at the top left, L. to R.: D. Bailey, D. Williamson, J. Conrad, T. Loughran and T. Carroll. I have girl friends, too, as in the group at the top right, L. to R.: S. Rauker, Ja. Paul, D. Phillips, H. Chapman, and C. Harmon. 5291- 9- I've been looking over the newcomers and they sure do look green-but then they're freshies- they're supposed to. 5299- 11- I wonder when those P.E. classes will start, I told Gertrude that's when we really have fun. 5291- 13- Today my pals at school started organizing their various clubs and ac- tivities and electing their class offi- cers. Sent- 28- The Pontio Staff presented an assembly program to launch the Pon- tio magazine campaign. What a timel The Homespun Boys were a big hit with their songs. They are in the picture. You can see them just leaving the stage. They are: Wether- holt, Harder, Lardinois, and J. An- derson, who also acted as Master of Ceremonies. Oct- 5- Individual pictures for the Pon- tio were taken today. Gert and I watched the photographer taking pic- tures of the football boys and then we watched the Fershmen line up for their pictures. Oct. 5- Tonight we went to the football game at Morris-I saw the football boys load on to the bus, they were: L. to R.: Bennett, J. Brue, Bi. Wolf, B. Bromley, C. Neubauer and Fortino. Od- 19- Today's the big day-Gertrude and I have been watching the buzz of activity around the ole' place all week and what fun it was to sneak around and peek at the floats. I helped the P.A. system boys Neil Hamilton and J. Shepherd set up the P.A. sys- tem at the football field. Just before the game the boys reviewed their plays, as you can see at the left with Coach Williamson, Edinger, Lardinois, and D. Williamson. Ort- 19- But before the game the pa- rade was very exciting, especially watching all the floats go by. Some of the floats l saw were the Key Club Float, Spanish Club, Speech Club and Chief. Then came the Homecoming 115 mal, 1951 - 1952 Dance with Tod Howard's orchestra. Vera Diemer and Dale Finnell reigned as Homecoming Queen and King. Along with winning our Homecoming game against U. High for the first time in five years, it was a perfect Homecoming. Od- 31- Our pals took over the whole City Government today in accordance with Youth Honor Day. Jerry Ander- son, as acting Mayor, for the day headed the City Council. What a time we had, especially acting as policemen for the day. NOV- 22- Just before we left for our Thanksgiving vacation, the football team was awarded their letters by Coach Williamson. We are really proud of our team and Coach espe- cially since they finished the season with no losses and winning the Corn Belt Championship. You can see the boys at the right presenting the gifts to Coaches Williamson, Desormey and Miller. Nov- 30- There were many visitors at school today, the business men and the parents of students visited as this was B.l.E. Day. lEveryone was really on their toes.l Nov. 30- I thought l would die laugh- ing at The Little Dog Laughed, the comedy presented by the Junior Class. iBut don't get me wrong, the little dog isn't related to me.l One of the funny scenes of the play is shown at the right, with R. Brown, C. Eppel, and B, Shaffer performing. Dec. 21- My buddies all left early to- day. They said they wouIdn't be back for two weeks, it sure is lonesome. Def- 26- The last few days have been as busy as Homecoming. Mr. Watson and Coach Williamson, as Manager and Assist. Manager of the 2lst Holi- day Tourney, have been getting things ready for the Tourney to be held the 27, 28 and 29 at the Armory. At the right you can see Mr. Watson giving instructions to the tourney ushers, also a view of our Armory is shown and you can see some of our students at the games. Jan. 7.
