For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sandg one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. l-le noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it Lord, you said that once l decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But l have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. l don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me. The Lord replied, My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints in the sand it was then that l carried you. tix 0 I A I 1 v v Spirt shows Toga day if K 1 7 IV. 13 9' . ,x -. 1, '1 fff Wg sg' 2 inf' f A V? C. Burton Twelfth Grade Office C9 .-t 1987-88 YEARBOOK MESSAGE FRGM PRINCIPAL The character of an individual or a school is best displayed in adversity. This year the mettle of the faculty, staff and student body has been sorely tested, yet we have coped with both facility and personnel problems so as to continue our fine tradition of offering a quality educational setting for all Pontiac Central students. No matter how severe the storms were, that surrounded our school from time to time, these have been weathered and had little impact on those concerned with either providing or receiving knowledge. This speaks well of this schoo1's level of commitment, and our concerted effort toward making educational excellence a reality. There are many memories that I will retain from my first experience as a principal of an urban senior high school. The one most indelible in my mind is the leadership displayed by the Class of '88, This class was my responsibility as ninth grade assistant principal during the 1984-85 school year, and even then, I was most impressed with their charisma and potential. In this your senior year, I would be remiss as an administrator, if I failed to let you know that you have effected desirable changes in the school environment through continuing involvement and a level of concern which will serve as a standard for others to emulate in coming years. I take this time to thank you, the class of '88, for reshaping those of us that drifted toward lethargy or mediocrity. We know now, because of your presence, that the future indeed holds promise, and look forward to tomorrow with anticipation and hope of continuing to serve those who wish to learn. Sincerely, XQHJLWXQLXL' Darryl Lee, Principal . He goes on to say Witli the excitment and enthusiasm the students have displayed has been well worth the effort . With a cast of twelve , eight weeks of rehersal and an audience who supported the efforts from curtain to curtain , 0ur Town opened. A charming play about two old ladies that kill old men as a charity. Arsenic required a difficult set. Starting from scratch, IVlr. Krontz and several students began to construct what turned out to be a beautiful setting for the play. This time there were sixteen cast members and only six weeks to present to a very receptive audience. u , , Q , s as sz, ee so fl 'wma ' ie -It ini- ,r.. 4 , 1.
