Al Bueno is camera-shy! Golly gee Willikers, it's done, and we've survived even though it was touch and go there for awhile. The book's first and most serious setback came when Mr. Brown chickened out after many years of excellent yearbook advisorship. The next most serious setback occurred when yours truly volunteered for the assignment isix years in the Marine Corps didn't teacb me a thingll After the usual procrastination, the job got underway in mid-December, but our camera got ripped, and the underclass pictures came back in a state of disorder which was worse than the chaos during underclass picture days. Typewriters broke down, darkroom supplies were sabotaged, and Mr. Brown who was offering valuable suggestions and advice took an extended sick leave, but the staff per- sisted andthe book was finally finished after the basketball tournaments. The staff would like to thank Frank Storer of Storer Spellman Studios for taking the group and senior portraits, Bob Kent for his assistance in getting pictures of the athletic teams, especially swimming, and THE OAKLAND PRESS for providing us with several sports pictures. Many students who were not actually on the staff helped out from time to time. Their efforts made our iob easier, especially doing time-consuming things which required many hands, such as sorting underclass pictures and selling subscriptions to the year- book. They are: D. Brown, L. Schiller, L. Ogg, V. Deatrick, M. Wiley, J. Cumberworth C. Stringer, M. Paquette, L. Reich, L. Hoffman, M. Dering, and Cecilia Alger. I would also like to extend a personal thank you to the teachers, administration and staff for putting up with my requests for released classtime for my staff and for cooperation during portrait days. ln closing I want to offer a heart-felt thanks to my staff for sticking it out to the end. Chas Nol and Al Bueno were always ready, willing, and able to accomplish any task from taking pictures to laying out pages to typing. CiCi McLay, Wayne Huff, and Victor Lutz for always adding a feeling of I want to help, what can I do? and for being around to type, run errands, and getting ads. There is no question as to who provided the backbone to this operation: The dedication, creativity, wit, wisdom, and humor dis- played by Andrea Deatrick and Teri Green made this book what it is, and would never been anything at all without their persever- ance and understanding. Special credit goes to Craig Keisel who, after he thought all his responsibilities were over, was asked to assume the task of putting together the sports section. - DOM r 0 4 Melvin Carter and Carla Matc- hell share a few secrets before beglnnung a busy day. The 74-75 Chiefs got off to one of their slowest starts in seven years, due to a lack of size and varsity experience. After warming-up, the team worked very hard to play some outstanding games. PCH, coached by Ralph Grubb, defeated Saginaw and Flint Southwestern, both top ranked teams in the state. They also beat Flint Northern twice and played excellent games against Flint NW and Pontiac Northern in losing causes. Finishing the regular season with an even IO-10 record, the Chiefs placed third in the Saginaw Valley West. The State Tournaments marked the team's comeback second season. First, PCH captured their l2th straight Dis- trict championship by eliminating rival Pontiac Northern. Next, the Chiefs beat defending State Class A champs Brother Rice and a tough Sterling Heights to win the Regionals. In the State Quarter-finals, PCH was defeated by a tall lymouth Salem and controversial refere s to bow out with a fine I5-I l overall record, a noble effort. yy VARSITY BASKETBALL SCORES Opponent West Bloomfield Bay City Handy Saginaw Midland Dow Pontiac Northern Flint Northern Highland Park Flint Central West Bloomfield Sag.
