The group has become very popular throughout the area, not only with students, but with adults as well. This year the iazz band appeared on a national TV documentary, dealing with Pontiac. This year members ot Pontiac Central's symphonic band attended the annual solo and ensemble testival. They made a good showing there with 2l receiving l, IO receiving Il, and lll ratings. Those receiving ones will compete in the state solo and ensemble testival in Flint. In order to do all ot the things the bands plan each year they need money. They obtain their money by selling magazines. Everyone enjoys this method ot tinanceg not only do they earn money tor the band, but they also earn prizes. y The one maior part ot the instrumental music department that has not been mentioned, is the most important one. Without this part none ot these groups would be able to tunction. Everyone associated with the in- strumental music department owes much to Thomas V. Course, director.
