However, next year the Chiefs will have experience in every posi- tion except center. With Jim Green, Dale Humphrey, and Bruce Wood- more returning, the Chiefs should have a backfield with a punch. Highlighting Central's 2-7 record were winning efforts against Arthur Hill and Flint Northwestern. Arthur Hill lost to the Chiefs, 34 to 18. Dale Humphrey's 95 yard run had the crowd roaring. Without regular practice sessions, the team showed real spirit and togetherness, downing Flint Northwestern, 28 to 6. ln the Flint Central game, the team top-rated lndians to a four point lead until the fourth quarter. Leonard Smith, Glenn Behler, and Gerald Collier played a good defen- sive game. Varsity and J.V. Greeting the old and new mem- bers ofthe PCH family was a famil- iar face in a not so familiar role as acting principal. There were also new policies to adjust to. Education is free now fin a wayl. There was, however, a limit of- fifteen days absence. The English curriculum was en- larged to provide a more varied and specialized choice of classes. School was not in session long before disturbances, including the shooting of four students, gave rise to a new policy of closed doors and guarded halls. Homecoming, 1970, was active and exciting, if not victorious for the mighty Chiefs of Pontiac. .lerry Shovel' Remember Peter Pan. the fall play, was a flying success as the first ehildrenis play in over three years. He will, no doubt, devote all of his time and energy to painting landscapes, his favorite pas- time. Mr. Allshouse graduated from U. of lVl. with a degree in fine arts. From there he went to Flint Northern, where he taught art and drafting from 1935 to 1939. Finally in 1940, he came to Central. But after two years, he left to serve in the Coast Guard. ln January of 194-6, he returned, only to leave that summer to get his Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Oklahoma. He also took a vear's leave of absence to study water- colors and ceramics at Washington State University. At Pontiac Central since 1950, he remained artist in residence until January, 1971. He has sponsored art and photography clubs at school and has served as Secretary ofthe Pontiac Society of Artists. He has had two one-man shows. His work can now be seen in the Covernor's residence, Smokey Hill Art Cal- lery in Kansas, and more locally in Pontiac's City Hall - and throughout Central fthe watercolor landscapes are all hisj. Its patrons include some of the teaching staff at PCHS, a few of the employees at the Y.W.C.A. and some of the people who work at the Board of Education. The purpose of the Wigwam is to prepare students for employment as soon as they leave school or for advance training in the food service industry. Under the leadership of Mary Kay France, forty students prepare complete meals. Students are taught to serve food after preparing it and also gain some understanding of relationships with supervisors and fellow employees. .1 if :,a:gQ,l,g-4-ff. i- figf-:-':.rf3s, iijff' g Lg ' Wigwam otion ',,,,,nnnv unvv avr 'u ' , l if 1 in 4, f 4 QQ ' ' f , V 4' g ., 7' 1: 3 , . 41 1 4 2 f.. .
