E Dean Wilson The truly good driver not only knows how to operate a motor vehicle and follow traffic laws, but he also drives defensively, watching for unseen haz- ards that may lurk ahead and for other drivers who may imperil his lite by tail- ing to observe traffic laws. He also understands enough about the main- tenance and servicing of a car to keep it in good condition. Consequently, to produce good drivers a training program should in- clude instruction in all of these areas. Luckily for students at Pontiac Central, the driver education department, headed by Dean Wilson, has one ol the two best-rated programs in the state. ff I der' 'Chg som H: note We ft for s. all to lo lqls niet

All students are classified into six weight divisions and a record is kept of their progress. This is printed on IBM cards and posted to encourage further improvement. The girl's physical education depart- ment strives to teach a knowledge and appreciation of sports as well as skill in participation. Students are tamiliarized with such activities as golf, tennis, table tennis, shutfleboard and folk and square dancing that may later fill many leisure hours.
