4 4 f f r . it ,e . ll is x 1 With summer days transformed into fall, two types of students arrived at our school's door- step - iuniors and seniors, who had crossed the threshold before, and sophomores, who were as yet unaware of what lay beyond the door. The former group entered to greet familiar faces and scenes. It quickly observed the changes made during vacation, such as the addition of new desks and water coolers, and freshly paint- ed rooms andlockers. But thelatter group viewed only vastness and confusion. To it, everything was new and different. Before long, however, classes were organized, routine was estab- lished, and innocent l0B's realized there wasn't a fourth floor and that elevator tickets just weren't legitimate. By the time football season arrived, sopho- mores, iuniors, and seniors had become one united group, equally enthusiastic. At the games they cheered loud and lively, welcomed victory, and staunchly accepted defeat. lf the Student Council had planned a dance after the game, the students would again gather at P.H.S. Here the usual emptiness of after-school hours was replaced by smooth music, shuffling feet, and laughing voices-a grand finale to a thrilling evening. There was another occasion when one could expect the presence of anxiety and excitement. This was prior to a prom. Again this year sen- iors and iuniors were bit by the prom bug. Once 5.522 51554425111 z2ffff?3 Zfi2 infected, they become dreamy-eyed, worried constantly, and continually talked of what to wear on the big night. When the prom final- ly arrived, however, all their worries were lost in the swirl of delicate formals, floating feet, and dreamy music. Club work also contributed to merriment in the form of plain fun and enioyable work. Each proiect planned by a club developed from a combined effort, hard work, and eager hands. lt was the contribution of time and spirit that produced such polished proiects as the Science Fair, weekly Tomahawk, the choral programs, band concerts, the water show, school float, and the fine play, Dino, The word basketball immediately rekindles a spark of spirit in all of us. lt revives our memo- ries of that thrilling season which won for us the Saginaw Valley Championship, an honor gained by P.H.S. for the first time in 24 years of valley competition. looking back over the past year, each of us recalls the role we personally played in school events. Not only do we think of the homework, tests, and exams which once seemed so difficult, worrisome, and important, but we also remem- ber the thrill of school sports, the new friends gained, and the memories brought by each event that made this such a wonderful school year at P.H.S. -Hill!
