The 1954 season proved to be a bountiful one for the P.H.S. Harriers. Four straight dual meet victories extended Pontiac's streak to 32 straight, covering SW years. It also kept the Saginaw Valley trophy in Pontiac hands. Rounding out the season, Pontiac claimed the Albion Invitational Runners-up trophy, the Michigan Regional trophy, and climaxed with a 3rd place in the State Meet. BAND The first Pontiac High School Band was organized f by S. M. Dudley in 1911, and Mr. Harris became supervisor of instrumental music in 1927. 'l'he band won its first state championship in 1931. As a result of state competition in 1940, the band was one of four Class A high school bands selected to represent Michigan. It was the only one of the four to receive a first division award in the Region III interstate competition of the National Band Contest. Past and present members of the band are proud that it is the only Class A high school band in Michigan to have received only First Division awads in state competition since 1931. Supervisor DALE C. Praycraiters Club is the oldest high school dramalics club in existence, organized in 1926 by W. N. Viola. The purpose of the club is to further interest in dramatics and to assist in the production of The Children's Theatre and the two other plays present- ed each year. Chief among the club's other activities is the annual parents' reception, at which time three one-act plays are presented. The National Thespian Society, with which Troupe 499 of P.H.S. is affiliated, is an honorary organization. Membership is gained upon recommendation of the sponsor. Playcraiters are recommended for membership after they have earned the required number of points by being in the cast or serving on committees for play production and after they have shown Thespian interest and attitudes. v B.
