Smoke signals rose over the brick tepee fast and furiously as the June Seniors made history. After a successful campaign, Esmo 'Tee' Woods was named president of the class. Warriors Dick LaLone, Maxine Hurt, and Art Weiss were elected vice-president, secretary, and treasurer, respectively. Faithful tribesmen were given special recognition at the National Honor Society assembly which was held March Zl. Forty-three members were awarded pins for character, scholarship, service, and leadership. Drums beat loudly as the seniors departed for their annual canoe trip June first, second, and third. Since other injuns lthe January Seniors of '50 and '51, and the summer school grads of 'Sl l went along too, the June graduates had to exchange their canoe for a larger boat. Their destination-Mackinac Island. The final war dance was held during the latter part of May. lniun artists worked laboriously to make the boys' gym spectacular for the final fling. l
