Achievement 0 mankind and The Space shxp Columbla on lf.S second fhght Disast The spaceship Columbia was also a dream when it soared for a second time in October and returned safely five days later. This made the astronauts heros, and put a sense of achievement back into man- kind. There were also nightmares. We sat on pins and needles as General Dozier was kidnapped before Christmas by the Red Brigade, and gave a sigh of re- lief when the Italian police found him 42 days later. We have cried many times for people who crossed this world's rainbow to climb the stairway to heaven. People like Natalie Wood, an actress, sex symbol, mother. and legend in her own time, drowned on Nov. 28, near her boat in California. Paul Lynn. one ofAmerica's famous comedians also died on Jan. li. 1982.

Dream Makers 4 t, 12 Q , Ww- 440 W Ronald and Nancy Reagan the President, and First Lady, The Royal Wedding of Prince Charles, and Lady Diane. Everything 's coming up Rain bows .' .' .' I t seems this year should have been called the year of the rainbow. Everything was coming up rainbows, from Ziggy and his nets to 'Cheer all temperature and its commercials. The rain- bows were used in making learning more fun, advertising seem at its best, and get well cards brighter. Even tooth paste entered into the rain- bow scene, as Aqua-fresh added a red stripe to the green and white. It was the year the world built and destroyed dreams. The year we wished on beginnings, and prayed for endings. It was the year the world cried for peace, and reached out for God. All and all it was a year to be remembered. Through it all the sun peeped out showing the path to the rainbows. But Who, and Why? Ronald and Nancy Reagan set the pace. The dream to cut the national deficit from 100 billion to 75 billion dollars over a period of four years was the first not to mention Awac's , the radar planes sold to the Saudi Arabians to strengthen our relations. The world also saw dreams come true as Lady Diane became Prince Charles' wife on July 29, 1981. With her glass couch and diamond ring, it made it poss' e ' V in Ci '

Tomorrows threat. l Air traffic at a disadvantage- Anwar Sadat, Egypt's Prime Minister, who stood for peace, was also brutally assas- sinated on Oct. 6, 1981. From good to bad the world has seen it all and yet there Ls always hope. Hope we gained as Pope, John Paul II, sent his message to his native land, Poland. The land where Marshall law took over in mid-December and tried to root out Solidar- ity and its movements. We saw hope, and faith at its strongest when Bobby Sands stood up for the I.R.A. tlrish Republic Associa- tionl. In doing so, he starved himself and finally died because of his beliefs. We've also seen other problems. Problems in the sky, on the fields, around the car in- dustry, and in tomorrow. Many watched as the air traffic control personnel walked off their jobs on June 22, in demand of more money leaving air traffic at a big disadvan- tage.
