The List your of tht .Tcvetities has been one of surpnse. sorrow and suspense. Northern 's own little world had its own shoi'ker's' The birth ofthe 'New Llerieration' had new episoiles added to its llistorv. The suicide in the parking lot, the death ofa kllow student, the initiation into ROI? and the teacher strike that added to our vacation and the Silverdorne games added spice to the life of we students. The world revolved around its own events that interlaced with ours. The 'Disco Fever' ran high in our veins wlzen John Travolta burned across local movie theaters. Senator Diggs rocked the political world with lzis conviction in the Courts. Louise Brown, the worlds first test-tube baby brought to sterile parents the gft of life and brought to kids plastic test-tube parents as tlze future in BRAVE NEW WORLDl?l The Sci-Fi era zoomed us to the outer regencies of the galaxy with T V programs such as 'Battlestar Galactica and Mork-n-Mindmff Marriages among the T V personalities we viewed took us by surprise, tying the knot were Donny Osmond Charlie's Angels and Princes Caroline of Monaco! The black heritage was once again lzailed and glorified with the T K premiere of 'Roots 2: The Next Generations , On the Sports Arena, Leon Spinks surprised the Nation wherz he heat The Greatest for the WBA. title. On a more local level, Proposal D. Came into effect denying all those turning eighteen-Seniors of RNH a toast to adulthood! The Wiz , the black renzake of the childhood story we grew up on l The Wizard of Oz J told the story in the upbeat way that we face to the 80'sl But the bad happened with the good - that's LIFE! The worst airborn collision in US. history occurred in San Diego with the crash that took mimy lives. The year has been mam y things to many people the good and the bad, one more memory to add to our numbered years at Northern to face the impending ElGllTIIz'S new, unique, and puzzling to our Generation... The Ezgh ties are approaching - and with this new decade the students of Northern High come of age! As we see the Seventies fade into the sunset, giving wav to the dawning of the Eighties, the Avalanche takes a look at thc New Generation. The many generations that have preceded us, have had a great influence on the people we are and will become. On looking at the growing years of the Huskies, who range in age from I4 to 18, we see 'Our Roots. ' We have grown up as the direct result of the fighting for and against various issues of life. Although we were not 'around ' during the Happy Days of the 50's KRNH was - with its very first graduating class j this time of nostalgic innocence holds a special place in our hearts. Today 's styles have the 50 's look blended in. The ever-popular Sock-Hops that really socked the Greasers, have been replaced with the Boogie-Beat of Disco Fever. At our very young and tender age the Turbulent 60's exploded The 'Me Generation of I-hppies, the assassinations of well-known figures, the Civil Rights Struggle, the Sit-Down age of protest and other rebellious stages, have passed by us with a great effect on the lives we lead today and all other tomorrows... RNH of course was hanging right in there! About ten years ago a sit-down strike took place over the Dress Code fDress Code!?!j Today, we dress in a sefexpressive way, projecting a very sharp attractive personal appearance! Ah .. the Seventies! ERA., Wornen's Lib., Gay Lib, Lib, Lib! The breaking through of prejudices - traditions, race, sex and cover-ups. Today. because of rebellions, our future lives f coming of age J are full of OPPORTUNITIES! With a free-for-all world the New Generation takes over to shape this world a way in which onbf the future can tell!
