A year of the UNconventional and UNcommon. The entire country has been affected by the UNcertainties that have touched the lives of everyone. Many UNprecedented events have occured in Washington. For the Hrst time the scandals of our leaders have not gone UNnoticed by the people. Through the mass media these matters have been kept UNsilenced and UNcensored. Though they are still UNresolved, they remain UNforgotten. As the leaders of the future it is up to us to be aware of the turmoil that exists in our country. It is up to us to bringAmerica honor and nobility that it deserves. As the new generation we must tackle these problems with UNrivaled courage, UNfailing faith and UNderstanding. We dedicate this yearbook to you, the leaders of tomorrow. Through the use of various commercial slogans, A VALANCHE goes UN P. vit!rn1:sw:u1nn::m1r+niIwz1Q2:'!lwill!!lS11lll -- llE - - tnA ,.lnl15ggg4gHgH ,, ylllfflllwlllmuf X gc o ll f llhl The Avalanche goes U . f, ---- U -vv wv-w'l'w'vM'lII - ml:-311 -l11!'11I1:111ilVWlFW'Vl '-1 1 ,mmmtsgm 1 1 1 1 1 e I I I . They attributed much to the spirit ofall our home football games too. Besides this many hours of practice are spent in the classroom and out in the field but there also had to be a lot of individual practice involved too. Many other people helped in the success of the band too. Our fine director Mn Welton kept the band busy and in Hrst class condition. Drum majors and drum majorettes also helped keep the band in fantastic step. Last but not necessarily least, our good, faithful, spirited, North Star. North Star supported both our band and our team. They started the year off right by participating in homecoming. They entered a decorated car into the festivities. Throughout the year much determination, hard work, and a sponsor on their backs kept them busy and on their toes At times it seemed like deadlines were dreaded an impossible feats to accomplish but through it all the staff survived and somehow managed to meet those deadlines and keep up with the hectic schedules. The Hnal product of the year's activities is the 1974 Avalanche. Typ Left: Being a Senior means a lot of responsibility and a lot of decisions. This year's senior members of the Avalanche staff seemed to have made the right decisions and carried out the work assigrzed. 1 Middle Left: It is said that new experiences are supposed to be exciting Somehow these Juniors don't look too excited about pasting up pictures. A Q H l Bottom Left: One of thc final jobs of being an editor of a section is to paste up pictures. Here Kaye Jahnke and Jan Leones seem glad to know that the end is near. fr? IXL Bottom Right: Banclaids and lots of tender loving care helped the Avalanche car to be a mcccss even though it didn? win any awards. We worked extra hard this year but next year will be better ,VUL Top Middle: The year of the Un Generation is here, as shown by the members of the Avalanche staff They used the Un theme throughout the 1974 yearbook. Top Right: Witlzout a dedicated sponsor like Mr. Ferguson the Avalanche could never be a yearbook. He leaves the jobs and the responsibilities up to the staff and only gives advice when asked for it. He is very unique and quite unbelievable! Bottom Middle: A lot of headaches goes along with the title of Editor, as Gale Clark has plainly seen. There are also a lot of hidden jobs behind the title too! But this year Gale did an excellent job Of conquering all the problems and making sure the book got out. 260 :ef year the A V - , 1 f I V , A. r ff , mme' The whole idea has been to make a yearbook 7 V side and totally UNtraditional. r , the 1974 yearbook was a lot of fun, much ' 1' 4 A seriousness and devotion was needed ' , ' o of like to thank all of you for making our Q and your smiling faces throughout , ma VALANCHE Staff decided to go he it something to treasure for a siricerely like to thank Mr. Mr Al ., Sfwim- r Graphic f ed I 6,-,ty ,, , 7 ,Eve A AHA! , ., ,V J ,Af N gb LLM V? - .v , I L 1.4 I 'JV f , , - .V .,.. ,3,::,,.f.Tr,A . fy X. ,. f Z., Q ,t 1-----f ' ..., . ..., . ., - W ' ' ' ' ' J fzfWf1?fefrf AV ANC E ll1974ll F Gale Clark Mr, Kenneth Ferguson Editor-in-Chief Faculty Advisor ill' Debbie Westfall Kaye Jahnke Alicia Rayner Jan Leones Academics Sports Editor Juniors Organizations Editor Sue Mgrfm Carol Parker Linda Brown Michele McLean Sophgmgreg Sports A sst Ad vertzszng Organizations A sst Seniors 'Rf' Karen Baxter Peggy Malzne Debbie Payne Brenda Partuz Theme Cropper Advertising Book Sales Student Life S'C'1lC'U1ll1112 1 zdex .I Q.
