Kojm was born in Cheekto- waga New York, and was educated in the public school system of his hometown. Upon gradua- tion from Dartmouth College in 1947, Captain Kojm served in the naval transport USS President Jackson and the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt prior to attending Sub- marine School. Subsequent duty in submarines has included tours in USS Requin, USS Cobbler and on the Staff of Commander Submarine Squadron Six. Following postgraduate studies at Boston Uni- versity in 1956, where he was awarded a Mas- ters of Science degree in Public Relations, he reported to the Staff of Commander Submarine Force, U. S. Atlantic Fleet. He then served as Executive Officer in USS Bergall and'USS Threadfin. In August 1960, he was assigned to the Command and Staff Course at the U. S. Na- val War College. Following this, in 1961, he re- ported as Commanding Officer USS Sea Poacher. In 1963, he returned to the Staff of Commander Submarine Forces, U. S. Atlantic Fleet as Assistant Plans Officer and Public Af- fairs Officer. He was then assigned to the Na- val War College, Naval Warfare Course. Upon graduation in 1966, he was assigned as Chief Staff Officer on the Staff of Commander Subma- rine Squadron Four. In 1967 he was assigned as Commander Submarine Squadron One at Pearl Harbor. Captain Kojm assumed command of Ponchatoula in November 1968. He has since reported to Washington D. C. as Director of Na- val Liaison to the United States Senate.
