El Ponso Ponders Problems OTHESE FIVE TEACHERS make up the mathe- matics department of Ponce. Headed by Mrs. ,luanita Jarman, the department sponsor, these teachers, starting with practical math and first year algebra, Work up through plane geometry, second year algebra, trigonometry, and solid geometry. The war-time applications of mathe- matics have served to make the courses more practical to students, thus stimulating interest. Through the use of visual aids, the mathematics classes are now receiving instruction on the operation of the slide rule, and various other branches of applied mathematics. +LESTON NAY.
