H Man-dan Foxle Sull1van Fox Head Putman Compliments of GEETING IMPLEMENT Fees Fluent Bud Bauman llEdll Pittenger Fran Pearson llsnotll Bergerson To the Seniors of 1958-1959 I Do you remember that first day of school in '46, when we strutted up to the little red schoolhouse, feeling like a million dollars because we were now grown-up and going to school? Among the group that day were: Paul Pack, David Curry, Karen Townsend, Ronnie Mey- ers, John Putman, Jack Knerl, Sandra Bauman, Paul Meyers, Nicholas Sullivan, Kristine Olson, Frances Pearson, Judy Kennedy, Terry Brewer, Ralph Peterson, Arlan Sherman, Majorie Iddings, Richards Rahn, and myself, Madonna McCuen. Mrs. Pack was our teacher for both Kindergarten and first grade. fDon't you remember the crush Paul P. had on Fran P. at this time ?l In the first grade, Wesley Anderson, Jackie Wilfon, and Rosalie Stevens joined us. It was this year that Paul Pack was accidentally shot, and was disabled for some time. lRem- ember all those faces Wesley Anderson could make, especially for pictures ?7 Mrs. Peterson was our teacher for our second and third grades. During our second grade, Jackie Wilfon, and Rosalie Stevens left the class. In the third grade, Geraldine Willett, Larry Hattig, and Doris Bergerson joined the class. Arlan Sherman left. CDO you remember when Kris Olson pulled a tooth in school and fainted?D Heading onward up the steps of know1edge, we gain Linda Lukken and Dick Enders in the fourth grade. Marjorie Iddings left us and went to Washington. Richard Rahn and Larry Hattig also left. Mrs. Taplett was our teacher then, While in the fifth grade, Ronnie Taylor, Katherine Sievers, and Warren Ellyson joined the class. Ronnie Meyers left us to go to the West Coast. Linda Lukken also left. Miss Men- denhall was our teacher for the fifth and the sixth grades. In the sixth grade, Leroy Campbell, Gretchen Jones, and Ronald Goergen were added to our squad. Paul Pack attended school at Wayne this year but returned the next year. In the seventh grade, we presented that Miraculous Project X! ! ! There NEVER was anything like it! land there never will be, probably, right???D Warren Ellyson left the class this year. ANYWAY, ON WE TRAVELLED!!! Kristin Urban joined us in the eighth grade, and Gretchen Jones left. Then came the BIG EVENT of entering high school. Remember how we felt that first big day when we were in high school? We felt like little ants in a great Big hole. We were shaking like leaves, fearing what initiation would be like, etc. Gary Bauman, Gary Fox, Don Sherman, 'Gary Fluent, Jim Allen, Jim McKivergan, Rob- ert Lamprecht, Gary Stark, and Janelle Krause joined us as Freshmen. Gary Stark was killed in a severe automobile wreck. Judy Kennedy left us and went to Colorado. Mr. Jennison was our class sponsor as Freshmen. We added Dave Millie and Robert Farrell to our class list in our Sophomore year. We lost Don Sherman and Jim McKivergan somewhere along the way. Sandra Bauman left for California. David Meyer, the coach, was our Sophomore sponsor. Now, we were coming closer to the end of the road, just two years left. We lost Dave Millie, Robert Farrell, Paul Meyers, Terry Brewer, Leroy Campbell, Geraldine Wil- lett, Wesley Anderson, and Ronald Goergen sometime during or at the end of our Junior year. We added Elmer Ketterman to our crew, Don't you remember that SPLENDID Junior Class Play, The Real McCoy? Mr. Schulke sponsored the play. OH! ! !,And don't forget the banquet and prom. Remember all the fun we had getting prepared for it? Then, finally that year arrived. We came to the end of that stretch of studying, tests, etc., in high school, anyway. We gained one boy, Eddie Pittenger, which made our class eighteen. We prepare for our graduation and then, it is all through! Each goes on his own way, onto the hi-ways and bi-ways of life, maybe never to all meet again. We have completed our twelve years of education together, now, it is up to us! Let us each go out and be a SUCCESS!!! Madonna McCuen Secretary of the Senior Class Compliments of PONCA CLEANERS CLASS PROPHECY OF 1959 Early in the summer of 1980 I took off a few weeks from my job to take a trip around the Universe. I boarded a rocket from the Blue Goose Line at Ponca. As I went hurtling out into space I found that my pilot was none other than Paul Pack whose ability to drive at fast speeds had helped him land this job. My first stop was the planet Mercury. The day I landed I went to the beach for a swim and to get a suntan, but within a few minutes I had myself scorched. While looking for a place to buy some lotion to put on my sunburn I saw the life guard who turned out to be Karen Town- send, a former classmate from PHS. Karen and I talked for an hour or so about our high school years. I was telling Karen about Paul being a pilot of a rocket when she remarked that she knew he'd get up in the world someday. Then she told me Dave Curry was fighting that night for boxing championship of Mercury. I went to see the fight, Dave won by a knockout. The following day my rocket took off for Venus. As my rocket went hurtling through space I saw a construction project being erected. They were building a television receiving tower for all the planets. To my surprise the engineer of the job was Gary Fox. The rocket stopped a few miles farther at a fly-in restaurant. As the rocket-hop came to serve mel noticed something very familiar about her. Striking up a conversation with her, lfound she was a former PHS classmate, Doris Bergerson. Doris said she was married and the mother of a little boy. She also told me that her husband owned the fly-in restaurant. Late the next day the rocket landed on Venus. As I drove through the streets of the capital city I saw in bright lights, flashing off and on, Bud's Place. The name rang a familiar bell so I went in to see if my intuition was right. It was Gary Bauman, owner and chief taster for the head cook, Kristine Olson, both former classmates of mine. Bud insisted that I stay for supper and taste Kris's good fried steak. Being behind in our schedule the rocket blasted off the same evening for Mars. Mars is noted for its large farms and beautiful horses, so I went for a drive to see one of the largest farms. The owner, much to my surprise, was Gary Fluent. Gary said that he'd come to Mars after he graduated from college to start farming. Farther down the roadl saw some of those beautiful horses for which Mars is noted. Imagine my surprise when the owner was none other than Bob Lamprecht. I talked .to Bob and he told me that he owned fifty of these beautiful horses. The next morning good-byes were said and I continued my journey and adventure. Land- ing on Saturn whom did I see but Madonna McCuen, president of the Space University. She had certainly reached her goal in life. In a conversation while drinking tea she mentioned the name Ed. This brought to mind a familiar note. I asked what his last name was, it was Pittenger who was now an ace basketball player for the All Planet Basketball Team. Next stop, Jupiter. I stopped in at the Flamingo, a local night club. While eating my dinner I heard the sound of beautiful singing over T.V. To my astonishment the announcer said the girl that had been singing was Janelle Krause formerly of Ponca, Nebraska, Earth. Satiated, I meandered to my space bubble for the night. After a good's night's sleep Ipacked mybags and called for the bell hop. To my surprise the bell hop was Jim Allen. On Uranus Kathy Sievers was a secretary for a large rocket company. Frances Pearson was married to the mayor and her daughter was Miss Universe of 1979. I bid Kathy farewell and continued my space flight. Our rocket engine developed trouble and we had to land on Pluto for repairs. The weather outside was very cold and when the me- chanic came in to warm his hands I realized it was John Putman. Seems his ability to tear apart things and put them back together successfully enabled him to get this job. Rocket repaired we took off. Picking up the PLUTO EVENING JOURNAL I read about the famous scientist, Nicholas Sullivan, who had just won the Pulitzer prize for inventing a robot that could run the farm machinery with the push of a button. Weary from my long journey around the Universe Iwas glad when my trip was over, but it was worth the time for I had seen all my old classmates from Ponca High School.
