Our Juniors Who Are Cramping Close Upon the Heels of the Swift Seniors. UQ Q - Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick, was presented by the junior class November 21, 1952. The play, directed by Mr Couture was a farce in which a farmer outwitted a city slicker. The part of Aaron Slick was played by Merle Bird Maxine Beith was Rose Berry. loy Meyers played the part of the Girl in Red, Jeanene Stallbaum Gladys Mae Yvonne Curry Sis Riggs: George Greschke--Mr. Merridewg and Jon Olson--Clarence. On November 12 many strange identities appeared at Ponca High School, Among them were Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Townsend, Fred Anderson, Ma and Pa Kettle and Little Pot Kettle. On the afternoon of their slouch day the junior class visited the Sioux City Air Base. They returned to Ponca on the Air Force bus after spending an enjoyable and instructive afternoon. Lyle T. Couture was graduated from Morningside Col- lege with an A.B. degree. Mr. Couture is Principal of Ponca High School and also teaches science and Fresh- man English. HALLOWESTA PARADE A Hallowesta Parade was held this year for the third time in the history of Ponca Public School. The grade school students paraded in costume. The costumes were so hard to judge that each grade student coming to the carnival in costume was given a favor and also a ticket on a flash camera. Tommy Kingsbury was the lucky winner. Marge McQuillen and Carol T working at the 7th and 8th grade stand. K f - fl 0 JC7i,2!13ffQ JH fl, f3 1 i ' I Sophomore float--Received third prize. HALLOWESTA CARNIVAL A Carnival was held this year for the second time. The gaily decorated booths attracted the people to the basketball throw, cakewalk, ringtoss, shooting, dart throw, spinner, M,-S, Mel-le Kingsbury Selling fish pond, and baseball throw. Each class from Kindergarten through Seniors operated a stand, Each high sch- ool grade gave a doorprize. The money taken in from these carnivals is put into new playground e uipment and chances on Band Mother's Cake. . Q books for the library. Ponca Public School hopes to make this carnival a yearly project. Homecoming was held at Ponca Public School this year. A football game in the after- noon with a Homecoming dance in the evening is the program which was followed this year. For more about this year 's Homecoming, turn to page 28.
