Qualities which were considered by the judges before they chose the girl and boy to attend Girl and Boy State, were personality, leader- ship, grades, attendance and punctuality in school, their conduct in school as well as downtown and in the eyes of the public. Alternates which were chosen were Rita Malcom, Patty Hurley and Carl Putman. The purpose of Girl and Boy State is to teach the pupils more about their state government. Neil and Rae were required to make severalspeeches to their sponsoring organizations telling of their activities at Girl and Boy State. This activity is annually sponsored by the American Legion and the American Leg- ion Auxiliary. This year the Women's Club also helped send our Girl and Boy Staters to Lincoln.
