E 1969-70 was the second year for the Great 1 Books and Ideas course in the Social Studies De- partment. This class emphasizes ideas in all so- cieties such as the idea of family life in various eras. There were two new teachers in the Social Studies Department this year. Mr. Snell taught for one semester two years ago and was then drafted. Mr. Smith, formerly a teacher at Eastjunior High School, taught American History. Other courses taught in the Social Studies De- partment were World History, Current Interna- tional Problems, Problems of Democracy, Psy- chology, Sociology, Government Economics, and World Geography.
