PRlNClPAL'S MESSAGE Ponca City students are indeed fortunate in the superior educational facilities made possible by the Continental Oil Company and the Cities Service Oil Company. They are fortunate, too, in the other advantages that come to them from these companies. Many Ponca City graduates have been enabled to continue their edu- cation by the liberal scholarship plans of the Continental Oil Company andthe Cities Service Oil Company. The high school graduate who has acquired the necessary skills in commercial or vocational fields and the college graduate with his more highly specialized training find unusual employment opportunities vvith these companies. The companies have been most cooperative and generous in making their facilities available for field trips by high school classes. The per- sonnel of the companies have given freely of their time to assist stu- dents with individual proiects and to address groups of students in their regular classroom recitations and during our Career Day conferences. To a large extent, Ponca City is what it is today because these com- panies and the high type of individuals employed by them have pro- moted the cultural, the educational, and the spiritual life of the com- munity.

SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE The Continental Oil Company and the Cities Service Oil Company both have large refineries in Ponca City. Oil has been responsible for the steady growth of Ponca City almost since its founding. The tremen- dous property investment in the two refineries is reflected in the net assessed valuation of the Ponca City School District. Since the ability of a school district to support an adequate program of education is so closely related to the net assessed valuation of the district, the location of Continental and Cities Service in Ponca City has contributed greatly to the quality of the educational program. Our school system could not have a broad curriculum and outstand- ing buildings staffed with well-trained teachers if we did not have the tax revenue from the oil companies. We are proud of these large indus- tries and pledge our continued efforts in operating an outstanding school program for the boys and girls of Ponca City. at
