Homer S. Anderson Printipal THE SCHOOL YEAR 1945-46 will be remembered in the annals of Ponca City High School as the year when peace came again bringing with it new interests, new activities, and new enthusiasms. The year was marked by the return of faculty members and former students who had served in the armed forces. Some of these service men enrolled as regular students in order to complete the requirements for graduation or to brush up on some of the fundamentals before entering college. Others came by just to say hello and thank you for the many expressions of interest that had been shown them while in the service. But although the war was over, the obliga- tion to finish the job was not forgotten. In keeping with the finest traditions of the school, Ponca High students responded generously to the Victory Bond Drive and to all other appeals for help. By so doing they kept faith with the 63 former students who are memorialized with Gold Stars on the school Service Flag and with the 1500 others from Ponca City High School who had an active part in making peace possible. Charles P. Howell Superintendent IN THE YEARS TO COME this Yearbook will be your most valued high school memenro. Through it you will be able to recall the names of friends and classmates you would otherwise never remember. The football games, the high school plays, the queen contests, and the school parties will spring to life again as you turn its pages. You will look at the picture of those queer people known as teachers and realize that they were your real friends and true counselors. Many times you will say, Oh, if I had only followed their advice. As you study the content of this book you will realize it represents the transition of the Schools at War, to the Schools at Peace period. It will be unique in that it will reflect both the effects of the War on education and its future trends. As the years go by, I hope you will always be intrigued by the ideals and traditions of the Ponca City High School. May the feelings of love and loyalty aroused in you when you helped sing Ponca City, I Love You, and when you repeated the school creed, always live in your memory.
