This year, directed by Mr. Yott, the girls formed intramural teams and the best bowlers played teams from other schools. This friendly spirit of rivalry has carried over into many other activities. GIRLS' RACQUET CLUB The Girls' Racquet Club was organized last year to promote interest in this widely ' Y F, enjoyed sport. Under the supervision of Miss Bilheimer, the girls have mastered the fundamentals of the game. Since the club is relatively new, our present endeavor is to establish this activity permanently at Pompton Lakes High.

A new activity this year, the International Relations Club, was composed of students who were interested in world affairs. At their meetings they discussed current economic, political, and social problems and their remedies. Some of the members attended a meeting of the United Nations organization. The Spanish and French Clubs aim to make their respective languages enjoyable to the pupil. By appreciating the dances, songs, and customs of the countries, the club members become familiar with the French and Spanish people. Latin has a background of ancient culture, but the students considered the brighter, more human side of Latin in the world today, in order to develop a greater appreciation of their studies. We know today that the people of the world could live together in peace if they understood each other's language. These students will make better citizens of the world because of their interest in foreign languages and the problems facing other countries of the world.
