We remember him not only in his office but also on the campus, at our games and concerts, our plays and our dances; for he is truly interested in all of our activities. While dealing with the many problems of our Space Age generation, he man- ages to retain his urbane dignity as a Southern gentleman. He is our friend; he is also the particular nemesis of every laggard. It is with affection and appreciation that we dedicate the 1961 BEANPICKER to Mr. Charles O. Carlisle, Dean of Boys.

This, the space age, is often referred to as the searching sixties. For what is man searching? Knowledge. While man is exploring the universe, are you exploring the truths that God and man have already established? Centuries of knowledge have been recorded. The key to the year’s success came from the variety of its programs. The activities in- cluded such things as elections, trials, parades, plays, awards, pep rallies, and special assemblies. 4 The aspiring candidates for “Mr. Ideal of Club Week,’’ Mr. Carlisle and Mr. Callis. “Criminals” receive just punishment.
