To you we give our memory book With gratitude and pride, For everything you‘’ve given us While we've worked side by side. For your encouraging leadership In all we undertook, We proudly dedicate Our ‘56 yearbook. Oh devoted teacher, friend of all, You found the time for laughter, So thoughts of you shall find a place In our young lives hereafter. LARRY |. WALDEN, Principal The ‘56 Beanpicker is a credit to any school. Without hesitation, the entire fac- ulty of the Pompano Beach High School would say, “A job well done.” In parting | would like to leave you with this thought: “Never give up until you have released your unused capacities for service and shared your gifts with others. One enkindled spirit can set hun- dreds on fire.” Best of luck, Larry |. Walden FANNIE F. CATLETT, Dean of Girls Through her many services to the students of P.B.H.S., Mrs. Catlett, our Dean of Girls, has won our affection and trust. Mrs. Catlett supervises testing programs, student employment contacts, girls’ discipline, care for illnesses, and tardies and absences. She is always willing to offer help to students who wish it. Ever-popular Mr. Carlisle is always ready to offer his help during and after school. Students, especially those planning to attend college, find his advice and counseling in planning their schedules indispensable. Mr. Carlisle performs duties similar to Mrs. Catlett's, but for boys. He also registers and withdraws students. CHARLES O. The F.F.A. is built upon the foundation of leader- ship, character, improved agriculture, thrift, and patriotism. P.B.H.S. boasts one of the three top F.F.A. chap- ters in the state. This year, as in past years, our Future Farmers have taken top honors in district and state competition in their scrapbook, public speak- ing contest, and cattle judging. The school board appropriated $7500 for the con- struction of a barn on the F.F.A.’s new 20-acre farm. The Broward-Palm Beach Tractor Co. donated a John Deere tractor to the club for their outstanding work during the year. The state awarded the chap- ter $358.86 for “Improving Agriculture” and “Lead- ership.” A new farm sprinkler system was bought with the money. The F.F.A. journeyed to the State Fair in Tampa and the University of Florida to attend cattle judging clinics. Besides the many social activities sponsored by the F.F.A., they run a very prosperous nursery at the school. i iia correct Sepia oleae Secretary, Dale Vinkemulder; President, Don Murray; Vice Presi- dent, Sonny Ziegler; Reporter, Jim Janulet; Advisor, Mr. Sanderson; Sentinel, Terry McDavid. future farmers of america “Thank you very much.
