Pom Pon Pomona not only boasts of an ex- cellent cheerleading squad, but also of excellent Pom-Pons. The Pom-Pon squad received the Rocky Mountain Regional Championship award of Ex- cellence from the Rocky Mountain Cheerleading Association. This region is a six state area, which includes most states within the Rocky Mountain Range. Earlier, in August, they receiv- ed a Superior trophy, the highest honor at the Cinderella City contest. At the RMCA championships in January, the squad again took top honors with another superior trophy. In November, the Denver Nuggets re- quested the squad to perform sideline outines. In March, they were asked back to perform at McNichols during halftime at another Nuggets game. The promotions :oordinator wrote a letter of appreciation, and in it stated that Pomona's girls were among the best to perform there. All in all, his year's Pom-Pon squad was one of the best Pomona has ever had. Many thanks to these girls who have worked hard and given 'omona High School one more group to be proud of. This year's outstanding Pom-Pons were: Michelle Bruno, Michelle Carter, Ihris Cowles, Paula Fails, Francie Howell, Lori Hudson, Carol Johnson, Tammy Nash, Connie Naumann, Pam Powers, Brenda Speedy, and Michelle Wertz.

I as sg I Varsity Cheers This year, Pomona was blessed with an outstanding Varsitg Cheerleading squad. this group of devoted girls captured the Stat' Cheerleading Championship title at Hinkley High School, having th- best ratings out of 23 schools competing. Each cheerleader was award ed an RMCA letter jacket, along with a superior trophy, awarded to the team. The girls also had superior ratings at the Cinderella City ana Boulder competitions, which qualified them to participate in the world wide competition held in Chicago. 1981-82 has definitely been the bes year in cheerleading in Pomona's history. To these hard workers, Con gratulations on your accomplishments! This outstanding group includ ed: Susan Christenson, Suzie Ford, Terri Garrison, Jackie Lee, Sherry Martin, Stephanie Robbins, Julie Roush, Becky Welch, and Buffy West. They also took part in winning the State Cheerleading Championship title with the varsity squad in January. The girls had much spirit, and tremendous effort was shown by the squad. This year's Junior Varsity squad included: Stacey Bauer, Lori Bradley, Dianne Donley, Robin Fenstad, Tammy Hall, Mary Heaton, Linda Jarboe, Marcie Martella, Val Muniz, and Kathy Simpson.
