Sou ndsation For the members of Soundsations, in the past year there was never a dull moment. Long rehersals full of hard work were an every day occurence. From learning new dance steps to passing the mike around the room to scat, these vocalists were never bored That includes the watermelons, arguements over outfits, and joke-telling sessions. Soundsations, Pomona's top choir, sang Madrigals, popular music, and most of all, Jazz. Throughout the year, they were kept busy entertaining at elementary and jr high schools, and various community banquets and meetings. They also participated in the C.U. Madrigal Festival, Winter am Spring Concerts at the Arvada Center, and attended the State Jazz Contest. Within the school, Sounds sang to fellow students teachers, and parents at the National Honor Society Induction, Academic Awards, Athletic Awards, Baccalaureate, and quarterlj concerts. The final, and probably most important concert, was the Pops Concert, where all the seniors were given a chance te sing their hearts out with their own solos. Although the members of Soundsations never had a spare moment, the year they ex perienced will be one they will never regret, never quit laughing about, and definately never forget. This year's members were Beth Bassett, Lori Behunin, Jackie Black, Teresa Campbell, Dave Currie, Mike Ferraro, Todd Gamboa, Terri Garrison, Tode Gilstrap, Lon Glader, Andrea Grace, Dan Kelly, Sheila Knight, Kurt Krueger, Myla Mohler, Stacy Nabors, Tom Orr, Dean Reeves Joan Rimshaw, and Willis Scharmer. Also, a very special thanks to our Accompanists: Julie Nelson, Teresa Campbell, and Mrs Miller, Bass: Raelene Osborn, Set: Todd Gamboa, and Director: Mrs. Debbie Miller. , ... ,. .. .. Fantasia Under the direction of Ms. Vandaveer, these sixteen ladies sang their hearts out to audiences such as Warren Tech, Graduation, Westminister Mall, FHA Lun- cheon and the Jazz Festival where they received high scores. For only being together two unconsecutive quarters of the year, Fantasia did wonderfully well. Their repertoire ranged from the 40's era, singing about sentimental journeys, trains in Tennessee, and Mr. Sandman, to jazz and pop songs about Symphonic Sid, and how summer eyes were warm and blue. At times, the Vocal Room was near exploding. It's truly amazing how talkative sixteen women can be! These fashionable girls right out of the 40's were: Cindy Dow, Robyn Furst, Leah Klepteka, Jenny McDaniel, Melissa McFadden, Carol Meador, Michelle Medrano, Phyllis Murray, Raelene Osborn, Michelle Person, Christi Pieri, Theresa Terry, Michelle Tift, Stephanie Sewald, and Claudia Switzer. Special thanks and recognition goes to the accompanists Teresa Campbell, Todd Gam- boa, Jay Grauberger, Raelene Osborn, and Chris Runyan who helped to pull the group's sound together throughout the year.
