Altex Alternative Education at Pomona has been a rewarding experience for all seniors who participated. Highlights of the course included a four day lodge course retreat, an eight day backpacking expedition in the Texas wilderness, a ten day rural work-study program, and a five day water rafting trip. ln addi- tion to being a learning experience, it proved to be an enjoyable way of mak- ing new and lasting relationships. The months shared together were dedicated by the group to their teacher and friend, Mr. Dale Verhoeven. The close-knit group included: Doreen Angelopulos, Ken Armfield, Michelle Bowers, Jackie Carlson, Ken Craft, Brad Crimmons, Toni DeHerrera, Cheryl Dienst, Mary Ann Fisch, Tamilen Graham, Hether Hawn, Melissa Hudson, Allen Key, Jackie Lee, Jennifer McGrew, Kelly Pleake, Sharlyn Stanley, Allan Wilson, and Linda Whatley. lung.,

2 Forensics i. Students staggering under huge boxes full of note- cards? A girl standing in the corner reciting a poem to a wall? A large room filled with obviously mad, pacing people? What else could these strange activities sig- nify but a Forensics meet! Forensics, both a club and a class involved students who wanted to compete with other schools throughout Colorado in various areas of oral communication. Mr. Cunningham and Mrs. Willis aided frantic students in finding cuttings and coach them after they learned them. This year's Forensics Team was quite inexperienced, yet they did quite well. They received three trophies in acting and many supe- rior and excellent ribbons at meets. Most of the team members agreed that Forensics gave confidence in speaking in front of large group of people. In spite of the long hours, the sacrifice of weekends, the frustration of waiting for notoriously slow coaches, all agreed that Forensics was a beneficial and worthwhile experience. The group consisted of: Doug Anderson, Dave Currie, Todd Gamboa, Andrea Grace, David Nanto, Claudia Switzer, and Andy Williamson.
