Another snapshot ol' the Chillicothe game Easketball Season Review lyith no prospects whatever for a success ful basketball season. Coach James Clarks team ended up the season with an even ,500 average. Considering the outlook at the be- ginning of the year and the fact that such top-notch competition as Greenfield McClain. Chillicothe. Columbus Central. and the League Champions. Ciallipolis. were sched- uled for the year. the seasons record was above expectations. Adding up the total points scored we find the Panthers aggregated -169 points to a total of 39-l for the opponents. Wlaile this team did not win state-wide recognition they made a very creditable record and played excepe tionally clean ball throughout the year. VJAHAMA-Ponieroy opened the court season with a 38 to 9 win over NVahama. COLUNlBUS CENTRAL-ln the sec- ond game of the season Pomeroy was defeated 30 to 21 by a strong Columbus Central team. The Panthers made a determined bid for the lead in the third quarter, pulling up to within two points of the leaders. but in the Hnal period. Central pulled away. never to be caught by the Pomeroy team. GREENFIELD MCLAIN-Playing on a strange court for the first time this year and failing to click with any consistency. the Pan' ther aggregation was defeated -H to 30 by Greenfield. NHDDLEPORT-Playing their first league tilt of the year the Panthers defeated their ancient rival. Middleport. Z8 to l5. POINT PLEASANT-The team from the Point took our boys by surprise before the tide turned to a Pomeroy victory Z0 to lo. JACKSONkTo date the Panthers had kept their S. E. O. League record clean by defeating the Jackson team 36 to 21. Cl-HLLICOTHE-Playing a purely de- fensive game against the Chillicothe Vikings. Pomeroy was edged Z0 to l7 in a closely contested battle. VJELLSTON - f Completely outclassing their opponents in their third league game the Purple Panthers annihilated the XVellston Golden Rockets 40 to 15. MIDDLEPORT - Starting the second half of their schedule. Pomeroy. playing in- consistent ball. again managed to defeat the Yellow Jackets to the tune of Z2 to 8. This was their fourth league win. G.3iLLIP0l.lS f The Ciallia Academy team eked out a Z9 to 28 victory over the Panther aggregation, handing our boys their first league defeat. Beginning the game with a whirlwind start the Pomeroy team led l9 to ll at halfetime. By this time Ketter. a regular. was out of the game on personal fouls and Brickles followed after the start of the third quarter. XVith two green subs in the game the Panthers had to be content with defensive play. The winning foul was shot with l9 seconds of play remaining. POINT PLEASANT-After playing a slow first half. Pomeroy came to life in the
