MANUAL TRAINING Skilled Hands Training the hand is equally as important as training the mind to do abstract thinking. Many a school boy will spend most of his life following one of the trades. Skill with the hand means a livelihood to such a youth, Manual training calls for no little amount of figuring and so mathematics is brought into play. Coordination of hand and mind. self-expression. and ability to make minor repairs about the home are some of the lasting benefits of industrial arts education. The school carnivals. staging of plays. and decorating for parties and dances require the services of boys from the manual training classes. Many of the games of skill played at the Harvest Festival were made by the boys in the manual training department. 10

THE BAND The Beat ol the Dru ITIS A shrill whistle-J flourish of the baton-the drums sound off-strike up the band! The snappy marti is heard rain or shine, hot or cold they lead al music of the band our parades and in- spire our varsity teams to victory. Ar basketball games and in pep meetings this organization provides the necessary punch. ln but a few moments they can inspire our rooters when the going gets hard and our fans begin to lose heart.
