MEACHAM DAVID SELLARS B08.I'El of EElT.lCEllO11 Assistant Superintendent Meacham oversees high school activities. He keeps his finger on the pulse of youth and guides them with deep under- standing. Supervising curricula is no easy chore, but efficiency is Mr. Sellors' forte. Broadening of our educational pro- gram was accomplished through his efforts. Joe our the top his P. Moore is more than the director of education system. His genuine interest in welfare of his students marks him as o flight man. Democracy is personified in character. JOE P. MOORE yu Y' 'o.......,, Pat Dodson is Co'Pilot of Parrot activities. He responds readily to every call, quick to make pleasant his every association with students. An efficient administrator, his popularity with all who know him is well deserved. PAT DODSON: VICE PRINCIPAL The feminine population of Poly find understanding and warmth when they enter her office with their problems. Her exacting duties as Dean of Women never affects her sunny disposition. EVALYN MARTEL: DEAN OF GIRLS 'z C. A. THOMPSON, Principal ui zu We hope this yearbook will serve as an authentic record of the school and its multiple and varied activities of the school year. Due to the fact that pictures now so vivid will become dim and facts now so clear will become vague in time, it is our belief that this publication will increase in value with each succeeding year. We hope it will tend to recall 'For you many pleasant experiences and happy associations with teachers and classmates at Poly High. We hope further that: As you turn the pages of this book Ancl review them one by one, You will again remember Who you are and where you are from. C. A. The students are counseled in their selection of vocations by means of vocational and aptitude testing. Job place- ment is in line with interests and aptitudes. This year forty-tive trainees are placed in twenty businesses. While training is the foundation of the D.E. program, it is interesting to know that the Poly community is 384,929.00 richer as a result of this training. These students who graduate with their regular class, take the required subiects and D.E. Each afternoon and on Saturdays they work in their regular training stations at beginning wage rates. Time out for u struggling strand El -nl - Mike McKinney f,hY,.wl r 4 iw ji Editors Note fi After months of collecting, writing, and compiling, here is your i957 Parrot. lt has been enjoyable working on and PU' Emerson watching as this book has changed from Paul Recer , , a pile of paper and pictures scattered on a desk to its present form. As you thumb through these pages both now and in the years to come it is my hope that the memories of your friends and of the good times you had while at Poly will once more be made clear and vivid. When you are in a mood to reminisce may this book serve as a vehicle into the past to bring back in a sentimental flood, the facts, faces, and fun of one of your years at Parrotland. And now l would like to thank the staff: Mike McKinney, Assistant Editor, Pat Emerson, Sally Coates, Class Editors, Joanna Taulman, Feature Editor, Brenda Keeton, Club Editor, Robin Watkins, Jerry Mabe, Hugh Parmer, Sports Editors, Phil Vinson, Photographer, and Bill Gunn, Business Manager, for working so hard to make an idea into a reality. Sally Coates On behalf of the staff l extend heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Hattie Frey for her tireless patience and support. And also to the student body and faculty for their cooperation and for their acceptance of this annual.
