Dodson, whose sterling character and high ideals are an inspiration to those who know him, who is ever ready to speak a word of wise counsel, and above all, by his personal example sets before the student body the high ideals of a gentleman and a scholar, this l95l Parrot is respectfully and sincerely dedicated. Whether he is herding doggies on his farm, or gently guiding the paths of his school boy charges, Mr. Dodson is always ready for moments of fun with farmer friends, professional associates and students alike. XZ, 7 exam, ficzfzclwz, and QCAQQW Homecoming, I 9 Homecoming, l95O style, started early, as main hall registration did a thriving business from early morning. Prospective Parrots, I965 variety, accompanied Mom and Dad to get a look see at their future educational home. Queen Dana Dodson followed in her sister's footsteps by winning the same honor Ann Dodson held last year. Dana was nominated by the football players and elected by the student body. Preparations for Homecoming filled Polys halls with decoraurg students Art enthusiasts under the direction of Mrs Hrllls Wise placed garly painted Parrots of all sizes and shapes all over the burldlng Carried in by cheerleader pallbearers, the Dead Panther was unceremoniously thrown into the pit by challenging Parrots who uowed to crush the Panthers on the field of football. Everyone got in the act of decorating. The hall outside the art room was filled with students, paint brush in hands, who wanted this Homecoming Day to be colorful. Climaxing a day of fun for exes and students alike, Queen Dana accepts the homage of her station. Senior Prexy Jimmy Scarborough has just presented her with the traditional orchid. Homecoming, l95O, a suc- cess? Fiue hundred returned Parrots yelled yea, 2 i J s E I P li W C. A. Thompson guides school activities a practiced hand, tempered with a warm and us heart. His favorite gem of wisdom, Remember who you are and where you're from will be a constant inspiration for all the students who have found counsel and friendship beyond his ever-open office doors. Assistant-Superintendent W. A. Meacham supervises all high school procedures. Once Principal of Polytechnic las was Mr. Moore alsoj, Mr. Meacham is both educator and friend to all who know him. Superintendent Joe P. Moore is never too busy, even under pressure from his task of directing activities of the Fort Worth City Schools, to consult with any parent, student or teacher on any phase of education in any form. , ... .... ...::::::,,:1,:1,,,,, ,X B , ,.,.1:.:. . .. . .. , ,.,. , 1? v 53 , ffm fx X ' me wg. e ws ' 5 V 2 y .-'. . No wonder it's the favorite meeting place, for it is the very center of the school. People going in all directions meet here-up and down from one end of the hall to the other they go, and eventually, all of them pass the middle stairway. If you need to see someone, just sit and wait, because everyone who is a student here will pass by on their way to and from classes. O. T. C. unit develops leadership qualities in American youth. As each cadet is given an opportunity to develop leadership through his own efforts, courtesy, honesty, and respect for constituted authority are stressed as the main goals of the unit. During the first part of their military training, the cadets are taught military courtesy, first aid, organization, leadership in drill, and small arms used by the Army. These small arms include the M-I Rifle, Carbine, Browning Automatic Rifle, Pistol and Hand Grenades. During the advanced part of their training, the cadets learn how to read maps, tactics of small units, teaching methods, and military policy. The cadets are under observation during their training and officers are chosen on the basis of character, attention to duty, leadership in drill, knowledge of military subjects and loyalty to their units. Polg's cheerleaders led the student body in yells which spurred the school's athletic representatives into giving their all for the orange and black.
