There are many good reasons why the high school graduate should take a business course immediately after receiving his diploma. Here are some of them: fl, If you are trained for business employment and then wish to go to college, you can use your education both to help you with your studies and to pay your expenses in case you need to be self-supporting. QZQ If you do not finish your four-year course in college, you have some- thing to fall back on for self-support. 135 If you finish your university course and cannot find employment in the profession for which you have qualified, you can take a business job. my If you follow the profession for which you prepare in college, a knowl- edge of business will help you to make it practical. You will notice that the best lawyers, the best doctors, the best engineers, etc., are all good business men and women. QS, lf you do not desire to go to college, you will be able to secure a posi- tion and begin your business career as soon as you complete your commercial course. A great many educators are saying: FIRST finish high school, NEXT take a business course in a business school, and THEN go to college or go to work. p QBRANTLEY- DRA .S 15 Om' Hundred Foftyfjour ill La,ja0z,L'lzanm.aL JBSTANTIAL SUCCESS WL Juniata Qjnwznpmam wma WHERE IS OPPORTUNITY? ln many places there is no opportunity - and for many people there is no opportunity. Opportunity travels on a high level - and opportunity, like a fast train, seldom stops where there is no chance to do business. It is certainly true that the greatest opportunities today are in the field of business - and also that opportunity means most to those who are prepared to render superior service in this field. If we are to take earnings as a basis for measuring success, business ranks head and shoulders above all other vocations. Making money is not the whole measure of success, but it is one of the very essential factors. You are looking ahead and thinking ahead. You now have your basic edu- cation, and you're anxious to know where your chance for achievement lies. If you will look about you, you will conclude that there are a thousand business men needed for every doctor, every clergyman, every lawyer, every engineer, and every architect in the community. In other words, there are a thousand calls for trained young people in business to one for those trained for any given profession. Business training will prepare you to make a living-that is the fry! step to- ward useful citizenship. It has been said that the kind of life one lives is deter- mined by thc way one make's one's living. If this be true-and it is-it is import- ant to be able to make enough money to live well! As the silvery sheet ot glowing sunshine Fades slowly into a deep shade of crimson and purple The gathering gloom is firmly grasping Everything Within the walls of my room. The silence is like that of an ancient Egyptian tomt: In far ott Sahara. There is an eerie txrealc in this profound silence As the mournful howl of a lonely dog Is distantly resouncled He. too. has probably felt th's melancholy mood. Following this momentary interruption All is quiet once more. My wholeheartecl attention is again turned To the fast fading horizon. There is no longer the tire ot crimson and purple, But only the smouldering ashes of pinlc and hlue. The almost loarren lilac loush Which grows undisturbed hesicle my winclow, Is picturesquely silhouetted in the deepening haze. Then the very last rays ot a dying clay.
