Our Principal His Message The capiTols oT The UniTed STaTes and oT The STaTe oT CaliTornia have been locaTed in more Than one place in The course oT Time. CapiTol buildings have been erecTed, abandoned and des- Troyed as The years have come and gone. Never- Theless, we sing wiTh The same Tervor The STar Spangled Banner and l Love You, CaliTornia . Buildings, Their locaTions, and The Types oT archi- TecTure change wiTh Time and circumsTances, buT The spiriT oT Tree people lives on wherever and however Their governmenTs may be housed. PolyTechnic l-ligh School was once locaTed on anoTher campus: iT had a diTTerenT name: iTs build- ings were oT Those maTerials and designs suiTed To The day in which They were consTrucTed. This high school has been housed on Two campuses and in Three enTirely diTTerenT seTs oT buildings in The course oT iTs more Than TiTTy years. These changes have probably increased, raTher Than Talcen Trom, The loyalTies and aTTecTions oT PolyTechnic l-Tigh School STudenTs. A growing clusTer oT ideals, Tra- diTions and senTimenTs have accumulaTed wiTh The years. The Type oT archiTecTure ThaT houses Them, The name oT The sTreeT on which They are locaTed, have buT liTTle inTluence upon The conTinuance oT These inTangible Things which we call The spiriT oT PolyTechnic T-ligh School. l shall never TorgeT The Times ThaT l came by PolyTechnic l-ligh School in The spring oT IQ33. lTs buildings were enTirely ouT oT use: Their walls were crumbled, and briclr lay in conTused heaps aT The base oT The various buildings. In The physical educaTion areas There were sTal4es wiTh placards Taclced To Them designaTing The subiecT and The Teacher where classes meT aTTer Thal hisToric earTh- gualce. ln all The years ThaT have Tollowed, l Thinlc l have never seen a Time when The spiriT oT Poly- Technic l-ligh School was aT a higher level Than when The sTudenTs meT aT Tence posTs and in TenTs Tor Their classroom sTaTions.
