Again as in the past, the year proved to be a busy one for all concerned. The first Wednesday night of each month found the board meeting in regular session. During these meetings, the board carried on the routine business of running a schooL This included such things as: hiring teachers, other staff per- sonnel, buying supplies, textbooks, etc, making decisions on building repairs, etc.: planning and approv- ing the yearly budget, working on operating levies, and a multitude of other problems. Much credit needs to be given to these individuals for their devo- tion to their elected positions. The year also saw Mrs. Mary Rf fi Q, v J A gk :zz 4 -Q ': .V -we . What a strange and conglomerate mtxture of people IS thrown together when a fast train IS dera11ed and the passengers come inside to wan for a relief tram. Among them are three peppy and attractlve college glrls on thexr way back to school ayoung man who is a student at a law school a fat middle aged good natured Itahan woman and her children the wealthy and haughty Mrs Vanderventer a nosy old mald M1ss McDougal, who spends her mme finding out other people's busmess and a pecuhar lookmg deaf man who has a mystenous old suitcase whrch he never lets out of lus s1ght Also there lS an engaged couple girl flighty and dommeenng and a young man henpecked but managmg to escape her clutches now and then. The best comedy part 1S that of S1lasDobb1ns who works around the station sweeping and puttmg coal into the old stove. He keeps the others laughing. The crowd IS thrown into pandernomum when Mrs Vanderventer dxscovers that her S10 000 strmg of pearls is missing.
