Glass lstury Let us look back to thc ycar 1947 Elght small boys and glrls started to school at Polk Mrs Fox was our flrst and second grade teacher and those proud students were Anna Mae Rush Audrey Maust john Swalsgood Davld Gast and Larry Slgrlst Durlng our second year Barbara Tarr and Barbara Kerr yolned our happy group Durlng the thlrd year our class changed very llttle Mrs Smlth was our teacher Sally Turk and Rlchard Howell came when we were fourth graders Thls year we had a brand new teacher Mrs Baxter Mrs Aslre greeted us each mornlng durlng our rlftn and slxth grades Mary Jean Smlth lolned us durlng the flfth grade Don Weller and Duane Weber came whlle we were IH the slxth In the seventh grade we had as our home room teacher Mrs Geler Thls year we felt very grownup as we had to change classes We had an addltlon to our class Betty Knowlton Duane Weber left us at the beglnnlng of the elghth grade and returned to MlChlg8H Mrs Moffett was our new home room teacher In 1950 seventeen members of the Freshmen class were cllmblng up the ladder of knowledge to bc the graduatlng class of 54 Ralph Cham berlln was the only new member of our class Our offlcers for thls year were Presldent Mary jean Smlth Vlce Presldent John Swalsgood Secre tary Ralph Chamberlln and Treasurer Chrlstlne Hootman Mr Wohlga murh was chosen as our advlsor Durlng the year we lost Betty Knowlton Durlng our Sophomore year we chose as our leaders Presldent Davld Gast Vlce Presldent Anna Mae Rush Secretary Treasurer Barbara Tarr and Gregg We held several partles and sold cakes at some of the basketball games to ralse money At the beglnnlng of our junlor year we lost Barbara Kerr Lawrence Gregg and Ralph Chamberlln Barbara moved to Clexeland Lawrence started to school IH Ashland and Ralph left because of lllness We chose Mr Crumrlne as our advlsor Presldent Anna Mae Rush VICC Presldent Don Weller Secretary Sally Turk and Treasurer John Swalsgood Thls year we presented our class play Crazy But Cute and held a Ham Supper to F3186 money for our Junlor Senlor Banquet whlch was held at McKees near LeRoy followed by a movle at Wooster Startlng our Senlor and flnal year at Polk Hlgh School our leaders are Presldent Chrlstlne Hootman V1cePresldent Larry Slgrlst Secretary Mary jean Smlth and Treasurer ohn Swalsgood Mr Camp was chosen as our class advlsor Thls Sprlng we wlll be presentlng our class play We are looklng forward to our unlor Senlor Trlp and flnally Commencement Thls year we lost Barbara Tarr who moved to Wadsworth and Don Weller leavlng a graduatlng class of twelve The Senlors who occupy those seats of honor beslde the wlndows are Anna Mae Rush Audrey Maust Davld Gast Mary jean Smlth Dlck Howell Chrlstlne Hootman John Sw alsgood June Wllllams juaneta Wlll13mS Larry Slgrlst Sally Turk and Rose Mary Long oy Sponsored by ASHLAND CITY MILLS Ashland Ohm 91 ll 1 - V .
