IF you visit the schools, you'll see why it is with good rea- son we consider our teachers as guides. The faculty we have takes their time to teach us as if we were their own children. They were involved in sell- ing pizzas, ordering class rings, and letter jackets. “Growing Pains'' was selected as the title because the Sophomore class is going through a stage of high school where they experience a stage of maturity. Their class is caught in the middle of being the old- est and youngest. The experiences they have gained so far will help them with their future. All classes, with the exception of band, are held at Hordville. With the separate school, the students are given time to mature, rather than being pre- maturely tossed together with the High School. The separation makes the students more familiar and comfortable with the concept of several teachers as opposed to one. In order to understand completely the success of our varsity Wildcat Football, we need to consider the hard work and dedication of our junior varsity football team. Fundamentals, agility, and understanding of the game, and, most importantly, teamwork start in junior varsity. At- titudes and confidence start at the beginning, determining the Fate of Future varsity Football. The junior varsity's un- defeated record proves well the theory that true winners start at the beginning and never give up until the end. Looking at our JV’s outstanding job indicates success as future varsity players. ee 3 = . 4 ell oan “Agia _ ai s a a ae ee ¢ T rH r w R r C KX x | G C |B r w JV Coach, Mark Maskell, also played the role of Assistant Varsity Coach. The girls on the team had to dig deep inside to keep going sometimes, but victory was in store for the Lady Wildcats and they trav- elled to Lincoln for the state tourna- ment. “Die Hard'’ suggests’ the struggles and trials experienced through a rewarding year of varsity volleyball. District Land Judging was our next event. Ateam from Polk-Hordville qualified for the state contest in David City. The District Livestock judging contest went quite well for everyone who competed. Five of the seven officers attended the National FFA Convention, Our FFA made money by selling Fruit to mainly peo- ple in Polk and Hordville, but others did try to hit a much bigger area. The money made went to fund our chap- ter and was put to use for the whole school. We really enjoyed ourselves this year and are looking forward to and even better year in 89-90. et These are the following students that went to state.Back Row:Travis Bauer, Kevin Wall, Brad An- derson, Craig Wall, Tracy Nyberg Front Row: Russ Damoude, Tim Rogers, Dennis Lukas, Tyson Veit, This page is sponsored by FIRST NATIONAL and Kenny Lukas 70 VOCATIONAL AGRICULTURE BANK and YORK EQUIPMENT INC.
