The 1985 Volleyball season was a tough but exciting season for the Polk Cubs. The year started off on a positive note with the Cubs defeating the McCool Mustangs in two sets. Throughout the rest of the season the Cubs had problems playing as a team. We were a young team and we made the mistakes that a young team makes. The Cubs played well in their games, yet when it came down to the game point, we could not handle the pressure. Ending the season on a positive note, in the district playoffs, the Cubs defeated the Mon- roe Mustangs, whom were rated high in the state. After defeating the Mustangs in two sets, the Cubs won the right to play the Rising City Terriers in the next round. However, the Rising City team proved too much for the Cubs.
