They were Mrs. Kuecker - science, Mr. Roth - Math- ematics, Mr. Best - Government, Miss Kotre - Music. This was a very busy year for them after we gave them their “Teacher's Initiation.” They all liked their first year at Polk, and I’m sure the students enjoyed them too. Last year, Polk received a new Superintendent, Mr. Lindquist. We interviewed him and Mr. Newman to get their opinions on different topics. Mr. Lindquist, expected a good group of kids at Polk. His main goal was to develop a warm, congenial relationship between student-teacher. His hobbies include golf, and he’s really interested in high school athletics. His degrees include Ba- chelor of Science, Master in Educa- tional Administration, both from Kansas State. Mr. Newman has been Principal at Polk High for two years. He felt his second year at Polk was going great. Some of his goals were to help kids learn and to succeed in life. The Junior class had a busy year trying to raise money for the Junior-Senior Prom. They started off by selling magazines where they raised about $1700. Then, throughout the year the class held a number of cake raffles which helped add to the class’ fund. The Juniors also sponsored the Prom for the Seniors which was one of the main events of the spring. They are looking forward to their Senior year.
