Dear Charlie, I guess this is the hardest letter I've ever tried to write. But I'm going to give it a try. Many years ago you saw us for the first time as snotty-nosed little varmits that couldn't even tie our own shoes. And the messes we made - but you didn't mind. I think you must have liked us a little because I never heard a cross word from you. On we went getting older but not that much tidier. High school years and you were behind us all the way with school spirit. When I walked down the hall, there you were smiling and always a HI. Who could ever stay in a bad mood when you were around? WE miss you Charlie and we love you. I just hope we did as much for you during our few years of knowing each other as you have done for us and Polk High School. Sincerely yours, P.H.S. Dear Dean, They say to know you is to love you and I know everyone that did know you loved you. You know it's hard to wake up and real- ize that someone so dear to us is gone but that's just the way life is. There are mil- lions of things I could say about you - for instance - you always had a smile for every- one. You loved to have fun and your jokes kept everyone laughing. But most of all you were there when we needed you. So much has happened since that day, and life goes on; things are moving, but Dean, we'll never forget you because you were a friend, a real friend, and we all loved you. Sincerely yours, P. H. S.
