Since Bob would have been a member of the 1962 graduating class, we, his former classmates wish to dedicate this page to his lasting memory. LEFT TO RIGHT: Elaine Ostrander, Joan Larkin, Linda Johnson, and Beverly Ekdahl. We, of the '62 annual staff, have spent many hours of hard work on this year's Cub. We have recorded in this yearbook all the memorable events that we wish to recall in years to come. We want to thank our sponsor, Mr. Martin, for helping to make this yearbook a success. Kearney Interscholastic Entries FACULTY To Graduating Seniors and all Polk Students: The past three years have seen a great change and much advancement in all our lives. It has indeed been a privilege to have been a part of the growth and progress of the Polk school. I and my family will remember our years in Polk as very happy ones. It is, naturally my hope that in future years we can continue to get together. During your school lifetime, words like orbit, satellite and space capsule have come to have meaning to all of us. In our headlong pace, however, I would remind you that the old fashioned words such as responsibility, morality and —most of all—faith, have not lost their meaning. Rather, they are infinitely more important now. It is also a hope that your education is never done; that you use the things learned in high school to build a better life for yourself and the generation to follow. Personally, my best wishes to all of you; come to see us when you can. Neal McCormick Superintendent Principal's Message It has been said that The High School should be the wealthiest place in the world because the students bring so much to school and take so little away. I hope this is not true of Polk High School. As you look back over the preceding years, I am sure all of you are able to think of some very worth-while things you are taking with you from your classes, from your activities, and from your association with teachers and students. m I feel that we have had an excellent year at Polk Public Schools. We should, however, always be able to look ahead to next year with some definite thoughts of how we might improve. He who thinks he can live tomorrow exactly as he lived today will soon find himself left behind. It is, therefore, my sincere hope that those of you who will return to Polk Schools next fall will find an even richer source of all the necessary ingredients which go into your preparation for life beyond the High School years. With those of you who are graduating go my best wishes for success in all that you do. Let's hope that your years of High School have provided you with a bag of tools which will do a job for you if put to use properly. May God's blessing be with you throughout your lifetime.
