After beating Cherokee in a close 5-4 game, the girls took the Conference, and advanced to the first round of the state playoffs, where they met Hayesville and lost with a heartbreaking score of 7-6. The team placed three players on all conference, Kathey Byars, Lynn Smith, and Marsha Gosnell. Marsha, who was selected as MVP and Best Hitter also was selected to All- State. These girls ran pep rallies, sold pom pom shakers, held a 50’s Day, sold basketball and foot- ball ads, and had a Tiger Stomping Day. This year the club sponsored an ‘old timers” ballgame against Landrum, a spaghetti supper, sold sandwiches at Mimosa Inn auction, and sold chances on prizes at a ballgame.
