The object of the Polk Central Boosters Club is to help the athletic department. This year the club sponsored an โold timersโ ballgame against Landrum, a spaghetti supper, sold sandwiches at Mimosa Inn auction, and sold chances on prizes at a ballgame. They raised enough money to buy a toss-back for the basketball teams, baseball uniforms, weights for all athletes, and helped to pay for the sports banquet. BAND PARENTS Officers: Opal Sauve Pres. Corine Scoggins Vice-Pres. Joe Simmons Sec-Treas. The Band Parents is a very active and strong organization. They have had many money making projects to finance band activities, such as paying for new uniforms and instruments. Several members took charge of the paper drives. PTA Officers: Charles Hicks Pres. Birdie Godlock Vice-Pres. Myrtle Gibson Sec. Brenda Owens Treas. The Parent Teacher Association encourages contact between Parents and classroom teachers. BYE BYE BIRDIE have written another and newer musical comedy for high school production โ this one actually set on its ear by a shy ยฉ teacher of engineering from Mittel-Europe. Professor Fodorski arrives with other โ immigrants singing a naturalization rag with such lines as ... โMake us Hungarian- s Into Rotarians Change us Roumanians To Pennsylvanians.โ Frantic to please, โ Professor Fodorski finally reaches his sports โ minded students by stating his engineering concepts in football terms, and in the course of demonstrating a principle, turns a mousey student drudge named Bricker into a phenomenal | The team becomes a sensation, as do Bricker and the astonished Professor and underneath all the fun, there is a witty and sophisticated relating of extra-curricular activities to student self-understanding. This show makes a comment on education today by putting it in terms of a bright and marvelous musical comedy. This musical has one of the most beautiful love songs ever written for a musical, the haunting โOnce Upon A Time,โ It also has such fine songs as โWhat a Country!โ a comedy โ number entitled โPhysical Fitness,โ a knock-out number for a girl student, โNight Lifeโ and many more. _ wep AL GE eg 2 utAAHe Ae 5, Ate yy FS De J 4ยฐ PATRAS O โoe mn Pus Ves oe ria ae
