Q nggy 'U' 4, 13-A 'Wa Qlfaaa fjfop wg After quite a few years of hard work in m Pineapple Can- nery, I decided it was time I took a vacation. It was hard to decide, but I finally decided that my destination would be Poling, Indiana, U.S.A., where I spent most of my days. I made arrangements with my staff and took off in my Helio- car, I arrived at Poling to find that it had grown to abcut the size of New York,City in 1956. I brought my Heliocar down to low speed and had quite a time finding a parking place until I spotted Jerry's Drop-In. I park- ed, and as I did so, the manager apprached and I recognized him as an old buddy of mine, Jerry Barnhart. We talked of old times for quite a while and then I went on my way. After eating and registering at the great Harrison Hotel, I went out to enjoy an opera I had heard of. To my amazement, the star of the show was Miss Ruthann Foltz, the famous Jeanette Foletzo. After the show I went back stage to congratulate her and upon entering her dress- ing room, I saw another guest to be Mrs. Max Blowers, the former Charlene Sarcus. She said Max was also singing for a career so she and Ruthann spent a lot of time with each other since her two sons were now in school and she had a complete staff of servants to care for their estate, I awake the next morning and went on a sight-seeing tour. Weeding Home fresh air, I made my way into the country. I came upon a large rambling farm with a very large herd of beef cattle and admired them so, I decided to stop and in- quire about them. My knock was answered hy Hrs. William Tullis, whom I knew as Norma North. She said they had four children and were Very happy on their farm. As I was returning to my Heliocar, a large truck pulled into their drive and the driver waved at me. I then realized that it was the one and only, Alfred Norris. He told me he had taken over his father's feed mill.and had a booming business selling pink pills for pale pigs. I went to Poling to inquire about a good mechanic to check my car and stopped at a coffee skop and was waited on by my old friend, Anne Votaw. She said she had attended Ball State College at Muncie and was now employed as a teacher at Poling High School. She said she was planning to marry Principal Clark Cable in June. She works in the coffee shop during the summer months, She in- formed me that Dave 3 Dave Garage was the best place in the city to fix my Heliocar, so I pushed on to the garage to meet Dave Taylor and Dave Smith, they had gone into the garage business as partners. I remembered that I had better call to Hawaii and inquire about the cannery, so I went into a large drug store to use the phone. Just as I got the pperator, a terrible racket disturbed meg it was none other than Qoren Ellenberger equipped with ladder, bucket, and plaster. He said the plaster had drop- ped on Jim Anspaugh's head and he was taken to the hoppital. Jim is HE manager of Jiffy Quick Loan Company in Poling. I went to his office to get his room number and was surprised to find that Donald Schisler was his bookkeeper. I got his room number ,Fi Y ., ,, 1 r .. f Q I' Wag.: In-Us '-111 Tv., I x -L . 0.3.4 hr -!'n J 0 Prophecy Continued, and went to the hospital and as I entered the door, I met Mary Myers, another Poling graduate, who was a registered nurse, I visited with Jim during visiting hours and then went to See about my H-car. I hailed a cab and found the driver to be another .graduate of '56, Paul Hummer. Paul was just as quiet and bashful as ever, so we di6n't carry on too much of a con- versation. Sy now we were back at the garage so I picked up my Heliocar, paid my bill, and went back to my hotel room. After a short nap, I decided to go downtown and get a few gifts and supplies to take back with me. I went into a large department store and as I came through the revolving door, I bumped into a lady, I stooped to pick her up and saw it was Mabeline Bower. She told me that she was a personal secretary for a lawyer and was on her lunch hour, so she didn't have much time to chat. After packing my bags, I started on to Indianapolis to see some friends of mine. I dropped down to street level, and saw Billie Gras SLQ.gfJ. walking down the street, so I parked and went to meet her. As we lunched together in a small cafe, she said she had married Vince Tester after she got out out of school and they now owned a plumbing shop here in Indianapolis. After lunch I paid my visits and went on, stopping for the night in Wicken- berg, Arizona. The next morning, I stopped at a bus depot for breakfast and found that the ticket agent was none other than Mrs. Jim Auker, better known as Sharon Egg Matre. She hardly looked like herself as she had gained weight and was quite tanned. I decided it was time to return to Hawaii, but on my way I remembered only one of the 1956 graduates had not been seen, this was Phyllis Frye. I set out to find her and make my trip complete and found her in Paris, France, studying voice. She was so busy she didn't have much time to talk, so,,fee1ing quite pleased with myself, I made my way back to Hawaii. Vogel .,g t v ig?
