They found that Poling had grown in pop- ulation to about ll2,000. They decided to spend the night with their old friend and city mayor Kenneth Williams. Remembering that he was the sponsor of the class of 1944, they asked him if he knew what had become of the class. He said that he just had come back from the HFortune Tellers Office,N and she had told him about the class. He said that Mr. and hrs. Marrion Runyon, nee Phyllis Alberson, are living on their farm east of Poling and are raising pure-bred cows, hogs, sheep, and children. Joann Tucker is now singing over the UNetwork of N.B.C.n and working her way gradually toward Hollywood. Howard Ellenberger and Paul Avey who went to Australia soon after graduating from the Poling School are now running a home there for orphan kangroos. Jesse Patch who always liked to tease girls in school, now runs a dairy farm south of Poling, and spends his spare time riding wild steers. Earl Sortor who used to be a star basketball player and a ladies man at school has recently filled the vacancy as the principal of Poling. Freda Hart who was Jilted by her lover is now operating a home for the feeble-minded at Poling. Nilah Runyon, former Poling Yell Leader, has now married the chief of Police of Bryant, John Wolford. Cleta Leavell, treasusr of the class, is now an airplane hostess.
