However, we now have a lifetime possession of the old straw hat by defeating Lowellville in the last game of the season. Ten members of the Senior class attended the Civic Day, March ll, which was very successful. A dinner held at the end of the year was enjoyed by all the H-Y members. The Library This year has been one of the biggest and best our library has ever had. Through the remodeling we were able greatly to improve the efficiency and appearance of the room. Our work-room is a dream come true. By adding this, we now have space for storing more display materials, and shelving space for many reference magazines. The library has twice as much floor space and several more sections of shelves, including a special rack for magazines and newspapers. Outstanding improvements are the painting of the shelves contrasting to the walls and the linoleum on the floor. Both add to the atmosphere and appearance of the room. The staff grew to a grand total of sixtyetwo, including both student librarians and the publicity staff. We sponsored the concessions and a dance after a basketball game to raise funds for buying pins. We have completed a very successful year and are looking forward to make the BEST even BETTER next year. -ft Page Thirty-five I+ XX . Ny K ' fig? The Mixed Chorus sang three numbers at the P. T. A. County Council Meeting at Princeton Iunior High School, March lU. Both choruses sang in the annual Spring Festival held an April 25. The Mixed Chorus also sang at Baccalaureate and Commencement. At the beginning of the year we elected Patsy McCrone as President of the Mixed Chorus and Doris Wylam as President of the Girls Glee Club. Great spirit has been shown by all members of both choruses this year in spite of our inactivity in presenting concerts. Progress has been evident each year. Our editors were Shirley Witt and Shirley Namie, with Sarah Iane Carty as their associate editor. The printing, on the whole, was very readable. The qirls ot the senior commercial class all helped in mirneoqraphinq and puttina the paper together. One issue featured articles about tuberculosis. Students wrote articles and cartoons concerning, What Youth Can Do About Tuberculosis as entries for the Ohio School Press Project. The entire paper was sent in to be judged. The plot centers around the Mason family which includes Mother lSandra Heggl, Father fEugene Iuilleratl, Sylvia, the older daughter fNatalie Towerslp and Maudie, the younger daughter llanet Bayeri. Maudie decides that it's about time her sister Sylvia was getting married, so she plays cupid between Sylvia and Ted Felton llohn Kummeri, not realizing that her sister has always been in love with Ierry lBill Seidneri. Meanwhile, Maudie is also teaching all her techniques, lines, and systems on how to catch a man, to her three girl friends, Alix lloanne Zeigerl, Iulie Uudy Kroppi, and Lysbeth lSandy Brownl, not to mention her timid cousin, Ioy lSara Leepardl. Although Maudie thought she knew iust about everything because of the actual experiences she'd been through, she was still having trouble with her own boy friend Davy lArthur Macklinl. Then to everyone's horror, Ioy panicked the party and stole Davy and Chi, the handsome romeo, lack Klinke, right out from under everyone's noses. lust as things were getting hot, the local mothers, Mrs. White, tludie Walleri, Mrs. Allen lMarguerite Mershimerl, and Mrs. Day lleannette Kiblerl dropped in to let the Mason's know that they thought their daughters were being mistreated. Poor Margaret, the maid lNancy Duerl, seemed to be the only calm person around. Well, believe it or not, everything straightened itself out for the best. The moral of the story is Men Are Like Streetcars, if you miss one, there's sure to be another along soon. I just mentioned it. AM f--.- .,,4f The Junior Play What happens when a meek, quiet boy of sixteen, who has always been protected by three maiden aunts, suddenly exerts himself? 'P 'P You mean you missed itl This question was answered on November 16, 1951, when the Iunior Class skillfully presented the three-act comedy entitled The Inner Willy. As the curtain opened, Willoby Adam's CBob Yankoi future has been planned thoroughly by his three maiden aunts, Aunt Hester tLillie Panellal, Aunt Louise Uane l lilD, and Aunt Olga CSusie Dearingi. Suddenly, Willy's inner self tAnn Weesei, dressed in red underwear, appeared to teach Willy to exert himself. As the play progressed, Willy found himself with four dates for the spring dance: The unattractive Marybelle tludy Thomasi, the twins Trudy and Ianet tludy Stanfar and Iudy Mclfarlinl, and Carol lloan Sicafusel, for whom he has had a secret crush for several years Willy ran into difficulties when Carol's steady tlfred Lyons? found out about his crush. With the help of Mike tBay Di Blasiol he ironed out all his problems and took Carol to the dance with everyones blessings. We wish to express our gratitude to Miss Esther Swift, who spent so much of her time and effort in the direction of the Inner Wil1y. Academic Contest At Mt.
