Folk Dance Festival The Annual Folk Dance Festival was initiated at Poland Central School by vocal directors Miss Mildred Seavey and Mrs. Betsy Newman. The event has attracted capacity audiences and over 200 students have participated each year. The format of the dance festival is varied. its motives change according to the experience of the perform ing groups. The dances include American. Japanese. Filipino, Irish, Israeli, German, Scandanavian. and Italian. Foreign exchange students have been featured as soloists. and the language and customs of the countries are studied as part of the background needed to interpret the dances authentically and with understanding. The international language of music interpreted through the dance medium is a vital part in the program to promote understanding among nations. 5 1. JAPANESE CHERRY BLOSSOM DANCE: S. Czar, K.
